This is what I was initially bothered by too. Some questions are very specific about how many answers you need to give, others imply you need to know them all even though you can clearly tell they are just identical.

For example:

Who lived in America before the Europeans arrived?

- American Indians

- Native Americans

One of the answers is actually flat out wrong:

When is the last day you can send in federal income tax returns?

- April 15

Last years (2010) due date wasn't april 15th 2011 but april 18th 2011. April 15th is the default due date but it doesn't always apply like last year.

So apparently USCIS asks 100 questions it considers to be important for potential Citizens to know the answer too but failed to provide the right answer. I read that USCIS doesn't share information with the IRS (they might not like each other) but this is something anyone could have looked into before putting it on. lol

Despite all this I will still answer this question with april 15th, if asked at interview.

just to clarify your second argument; in 2010, the last day of tax return was changed to 18th of April because Washington, D.C. celebrated Emancipation Day on April 15, a day earlier than normal, since April 16 fell on a Saturday. This is totally different case, IRS tax law states that the last day is the 15th of April.

But I agree with everybody, you should be fine if you only study from the book and know one or two answers.

I wouldn't worry about your holes since no where on the applciation or instructions does it say not to put holes or staples. Although it's probably good advice for the rest of us not to do that.

Quick question though: on the thread about the ROC application being denied all of the responses were saying that ANYTIME you send anything to USCIS you should get signature confirmation because that way you have a name of who is liable if something goes missing. I know in that thread the poster said they sent back the RFE docs, but USCIS has no record of receiving it. So which is, ask for signature or not? Or, if you file at the beginning of your 90 day window you should ask for signature, but if you file at the end and can't spare a day, you shouldn't?

Whoever says "the signature confirmation delays the receipt of your applications", I dare them to show evidence because it does not. The express mail with a signature confirmation is guaranteed delivery, no delays at all.

I punched two holes on my documents and bound them with an ECHO fastener, and also organized the whole package with the tabs. I do not know how they handle our packages, but I would keep the package as organized as possible.

I used the USPS express mail service which comes with the signature confirmation and tracking number, my package was signed. Even you send the package to a PO Box if you ask for a signature confirmation, they need to sign the confirmation in order to receive your package.

You can't change your sponsor, your ex's parents are still your sponsors till you become a US Citizen.

So the oddest thing occurred last night... i received 2my txt msgs frim USCIS letting me know my status has been updated and got an email confirming that USPS have confirmed delivery of my GC. Which is all really good.. but... i got approved and received my GC over a month ago craziness! Lol

Same here. I received two emails yesterday; one was for confirming that USPS delivered my card and the other one was for informing me that they mailed my card.

I guess they were updating the files.

Question for those that sent bank statements: Did you send the full 6-7 page statement including all the deductions in your checking account or just the first few pages with the summary? I find it weird to send out an itemized list of how we spent our money to complete strangers.

I understand your concerns, but you are putting your SSN and other crucial info when you fill the form so I think it shows that you both use the joint account when you send them the whole statement.

I am going to ask a stupid question. about the evidence of removing conditions, i know all about jointly tax returns, bank statements and so on. when receiving mail in both of our names from family and friends, do we send in to uscis just the envelope that has both of our names or do we send in the envelope and cards, letters from friends and family. i know its a stupid question but i want to make sure so we won't make any mistakes. thank you everyone.

I sent copies of the envelopes and cards as well.

I would say it is a personal preference, I asked the people who wrote the affidavits to have the letters notarized so it is up to you. I did it for the peace of mind...

I have an question and hopefully you guys can help me out . After so many time calling USCIS. i tried to calll them back today and got to speak to a supervisor . He told me that there is a hold in my application and i need to make a infopass to my USCIS local office ( i did not receive any notice fr USCIS ). Have any of you guys experience something like this or what should i be expecting from this appointment ? thx

Thanks for all the help, I have written my detailed statement of the events leading up to the termination of the marriage. I am waiting for the tax transcripts to arrive and will send the package back in. can anyone think of anything else that might help? i have already sent all the financial information as far as our joint account and our joint car loan and the lease for our apartment

did you, guys have any joint utility bills or health/medical/dental/life/rental/home owners insurance? These may help as well.

phill86518, what do you mean ( no more April 4 stuuf ) and how they start processing May 2 applications if there's alot from April still pending ? and what's SR ?

SR is a service request which a customer service rep or high level officer can open for you if your application is out of the normal processing time so the website says "May 2nd" if your application is dated/received before May 2nd, I believe they could open a service request for you.

I think when they say "May 2nd" it means the last application that was processed in November 2011 had been received in May 2nd. I do not think it means "no more April applications". Hopefully, by February update they will clear all April applications.

It came within a priority envelope so it is slightly bigger than the regular size envelope. Mine arrived two days after the production email.

-joint tax returns for 2009 and 2010 (we havent filed yet for 2011);

-joint lease - I have 2 contracts on the same address, we have just renewed our lease.

-joint renters insurance;

-copy after our IDs showing the same address'

-2 joint bank accounts actively used and 1 savings account;

-my husband owns a business, and my name is listed on business papers as well;

-copies after the company bank card showing us as users of the company account;

-joint Verizon cellphone bill (we have a family account since 2009)

-copy after bank statement in both names showing that we paid off our first car;

-copy after first car's title (in both our names).

-my husband's life insurance showing me as a beneficiary

-joint Costco membership

-copy after our last cruise documents listing us as passengers (January 2012 cruise)-I can submit more travel docs if necessary;

-school loan paper listing my husband and my mother in law as alternative contacts;

-copy after a couple of savings bonds that we purchased for our newphew and our names is on it;

-photos

Just to confirm that there is no rhyme or reason to the ways of the USCIS office....Today I received an email from them stating that they sent my approval letter on Jan 19th. I received my letter on the 12th of January. Who knows what goes on there.

same here. We got the letter on January 13 and on the 17th two emails saying that they ordered the card production and yesterday another one saying that they sent the approval letter on the 18th. I am hoping we will get our cards by next Tuesday.

i am complaining, but this is kind of strange that there are still April filers left.

wonder what the updated processing time for ROCs will be. im kinda hoping they will stay at 6 months.

it may say "April 4th" because that is what the customer service reps keep saying and they have the most update info given.

just a blind guess
