I want to apply for the passport, expedited....The website says 2-3 weeks....Can you guys share how long it took for you the receive the passport recently...I want to apply the day of my oath and travel 3-4 weeks afterwards...Is it safe to buy the flight ticket now and trust that the passport will really be there within 2-3 weeks...any Advice is appreciated! I am in florida, I don't know if all the passport will be produced in Miami for Florida!? Thanks

I sent in mine via expedited on 2/27/2013 and received the passport on 3/6/2013 so it was pretty quick. The certificate arrived on 3/8/2013.

I registered to vote on the oath ceremony day at the local USCIS. The local USCIS advised us to wait for 10 days to update with SSA, but said we could apply for a passport right after the oath ceremony in fact, they were helping with the passport applications there as well. However, I didn't do it right there.

I went to the SSA office two weeks after the oath ceremony and updated my status and they said I should receive a new card in the mail within two weeks. Yesterday, I applied for a US passport.

My license is expiring within 10 months so I will wait when I apply for a new card to update my status with DMV. However, USCIS didn't mention about updating the status with DMV. They mentioned that updating with SSA was important to receive benefits in the future.

thanks angus..your wife was there with you.. this stiuation.. did it put a good affect on your case? IO did see your wife or no? if yes then did he say anything about that? total how many days after you got oath ceremony?

I am not sure if the IO saw my wife and he didn't say anything about my wife being there. I think my status changed within a week after the interview and the total time to receive the oath ceremony letter was one and a half week(I think). The oath ceremony was approx a week after the receipt of the letter.

Yeah sure,

My interview was at 10am, my wife and I were there at 9:15am and I checked in then I was called in at around 9:40am, the IO was formal. As soon as we walked into his office, he made me swear in and then he wanted to see my GC, driver's licence and passport. He went through yes/no questions on the application, he then started asking 6 questions which I can't remember now after that he asked me to read a sentence and write a sentence which I can't remember them either(sorry). He congratulated me after that then he gave a me letter stating that I passed the exam and was recommended for approval. I think I got email within 4-5 days that I was placed in oath scheduling line and a couple of days later the oath scheduled email.

Hey all,

I just wanted to see how everybody applied for a US passport, I know we need to send in the naturalization certificate and you can't go to a passport office unless you are flying out of the country within two weeks.

I guess after all those years of paperwork it will be difficult to send the certificate with the passport application.
