Were you transferred to California for "speedy processing"? Join the queue and whilst waiting you can read all the other stories...
http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/337144-november-2011-aos-filers/
Some October filers are still waiting.
"The I485 APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS was transferred and is now being processed at a USCIS office" it has stated that since Jan!!!

OK so here's the scoop
Entered US on 6th Oct 2011
Married 6th Nov 2011
Filed 22nd Nov 2011
Biometrics 19th Dec 2011
And now it is July 4th and I have no GC Green Card, is this a NORMAL wait time in other peoples opinion? It seems very very long. I have my EAD and AP but I WANT my GC
Any responses would be greatly appreciated, I have called and they just say be patient.
THANK YOU
-
Does this form mean that we do NOT need an EAD and can work immediately after entering USA?
-
Cheers, thank you so much for your help!

I hope this requires an easy yes/no.
I came here on a i-129f k1 visa and we are now married and completing the i-485, we do not need to ALSO do an i-130 do we?

He lives in the same household currently. A temporary arrangement until we can begin our life together! So we fill out 1 864 and 1 864a, that's great!
The I864 looks horrible, quite confusing, getting really stumped by the number in the household part, there are 4 but following the guidelines I count up to 5!!!! It's because I get counted twice, the spouse and the intended immigrant....
If anyone cam help with that, cool
Cheers and best wishes to all!

Hi.
I am applying to AOS after getting married last week under a K-1!
Now, My now wife(!) does not meet the 125% etc etc therefore her father (my father in law) has agreed to add his income in as another sponser to help us out, we are just not sure whether they BOTH fill out an I-864 or whether Sami (wife) fills out one and Frank (father in law) fills out only the I-864a.
Any information would be great.
Thank you all!

We are now compiling our AOS so I can begin a legal life in the US, I was just wondering how long till I get my Green Card in my hand considering everything goes smoothly?
Thank you everybody.

Ahh you don't know how hard it is to resist juvenile responses to comments like this when I am in a feisty mood
Me and Sami have been apart a LONG time, feisty is our middle name!

Doesn't it say DO NOT OPEN?
Yeah but I nearly ripped the top off like a FedEx packet! I didn't expect it to be so large!!
I got carried away in my haste then toned it down and realised...luckily
-
IF YOU HAVE TO HAVE YOUR PASSPORT AND 'SECRET DOCUMENT PACKAGE' DELIVERED BACK TO YOUR HOUSE, DON'T OPEN IN IN HASTE!
I WAS A SPLIT SECOND AWAY FROM RIPPING OPEN THE IMPORTANT DOCUMENT PACKAGE THINKING IT HAD MY PASSPORT INSIDE, IT WAS 06:30 AND I WAS VERY EXCITED.
NOW I HAVE A FLIGHT AND A PASSPORT AND AN INTACT SPECIAL SECRET PACKET AND IT ONLY TOOK 5 DAYS TO GET BACK FROM THE EMBASSY!
GOOD LUCK TO ALL OF YOU GOING THROUGH THE PROCESS AND ON TO THE NEXT STAGE I GO!!!!

Looking forward to it, sounds simple!
Will keep you updated

You don't need SSN to get married in Vegas. This is one of the cities that will mary you no matter what. As long as you and your fiancee have a passport you will be good to go.
I am telling it as a long time Vegas resident. Lived there for over 8 years, and marriages are just jokes there. How about a drive thru wedding?
Hey thanks for replying so quick, but it will still count as a legit wedding that will satisfy the K1 requirements??
We cannot afford a big one so we thought we would have fun with it then do it properly in a few years when we have the money!
-
Hi all, OK so last week I got APPROVED!!!!
I am flying to USA on October 6th (IF Passport gets returned in time!)
We are planning to go to Vegas on 7th Nov to tie the knot in style with both out families attending.
My questions are
1. What do I need to get Married?
2. I read I need a SSN, is this true?
3. I was told to leave it 2 weeks before going to apply for an SSN, does this leave me enough time to get it returned to me for the Nov 7th Wedding?
Am just a little concerned as flights have been booked and arranged and now I hear I may not have the necessary documents (SSN) to proceed.
Please help anybody that can.

Hi.
I will (hopefully) soon be moving to the US on a K-1, I was wondering what type of Insurance everybody got as in my opinion it will NOT be Travel Insurance and it would not be UK Life Insurance as if anything was to happen, I would not be covered as I was out of the Country...
Any please help!
Cheers

Hello and thank you to everyone.
So, to my interview I will take
I-134 from my Fiancee in US (will be VERY thin on pages!)
I-134 from my Fiancees Father (will be VERY thick on pages!)
A record of my 7K Premium Bond savings
Along with everything else needed shall we say that for the interview this will be sufficient . . ?!
Thank you all so much for your help!!
-
Yes, the US citizen and the father would fill out the I-134. You wouldn't show anything for the I-134 (just for everything else as evidence for relationship, and other requested docs... but your timeline says you were already interviewed so it sounds like you're all set with that already).
No we have been given a date of the 22nd Sept and I have filled that in (not sure why it has a tick . . .?!)
-
Correct, the petiioner and the joint sponsor provide the I-134. The petitioner is always a primary sponsor.
FWIW, looking forward the future father in law's promise to "cover you" for a year may mean there will be issues after marriage when it comes time to adjust status. That requires another affidavit of support (I-864) that is a binding contract between the sponsor and the US gov't that potentially lasts years. Your then spouse completes one and any needed joint sponsor would supply one as well.
Doesn't sound like "dad" may be willing to do this. So get the conversation going now because without it, the immigrant won't be legally employable in the US anytime soon.
Thank you for your info Anh map,
One year was just what was put on the I-134, once I have Green Card in hand it wont take me long to be fully independent, I also have some savings put aside that should be of help, not a great deal but it is all I have!
-
You need to fill out an I-134 with supporting documents. It needs to show sufficient income over the poverty line, or enough assets that you can prove the value of and that could actually be sold off if need be. Otherwise, you need a co-sponsor on the I-134. The embassies of some countries don't allow co-sponsors, but I don't know for your case. I don't follow what you highlighted... the relatives or friends need to co-sponsor and fill out the I-134 with supporting documents (if that's what you mean).
Hi Hiker, I was stating that a relative of my Fiancee (her father) would co-sponser us and fill fill out the I-134
But now it is looking like my Fiancee ALSO needs to?
But I do not have to show ANYTHING, correct?!
-
Regardless of income the US citizen spouse fiancee(e) completes the affidavit of support and supplies the required documentation. A joint sponsor also completes the I-134 and supplies the needed documentation.
This link from the London embassy may be helpful to you >>> http://london.usemba...faffidavit.html
Thank you for responding, from that link it states the following:
K-1 and K-3 and their derivatives are not required to file an affidavit of support, form I-864 at the time he or she applies for the visa. However, the Immigration and Nationality Act does require the applicant to establish to the satisfaction of the consular officer at the time of the application for a visa, and also to the satisfaction of an officer of the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) at the time of application for admission to the United States, that he or she is not likely at any time to become a public charge.
An applicant for K-1 or K-3 visa may generally satisfy the requirement of the law by the presentation of documentary evidence establishing that:
the applicant has, or will have in the U.S. personal funds sufficient to provide support for the applicant and dependent family members, if any, or sufficient to provide support until suitable employment is located;
the applicant has arranged employment in the U.S. that will provide an adequate income for the applicant and dependent family members;
relatives or friends in the U.S. will assure the applicant's support;
or
a combination of the above circumstances
It is the highlighted point that we were going forward with, is this not suitable at interview stage?
-
OK so I am quite worried,
Reading countless reviews of the interview process I see 'Fiancees Affidavit of Support' written left right and centre....
Despite having all the documents needed WE HAVE NOTHING SHOWING EITHER MY OWN OR MY FIANCEES Assests or Bank Balances, Jobs etc etc . .
I am leaving my job and Sami is a student who earns a small amount (very small) we neither of us have completed this form . . HOWEVER, her Father has very kindly filled out the I-134 form that states he will 'cover' me for 1 year.
Does this mean we are good to go, he has attached bank balances, letters from his place of work etc etc and his savings (he can cover me for years if need be (it wont be!))
I hope someone can help me as I am quite worried they need to see something from us.
Please help!
Danny n Sami
