  3. Hi everyone,

Had my interview today in Los Angeles. My appointment was at 10:50 am. I arrived at 10:35 am and was called only at 11:40. I was a long wait. The officer was firm and not too smiley. She asked me the first 6 questions which I got them all right! YAY

    :)

I can only remember two lol 1) Who vetoes bills? 2) what is the capital of your State

Then she asked me write down The white house is in Washington DC and read a phrase.I was arrested after a fight with my husband back in 2013 but no charges were filled against me. She started asking me for original copy of the letter from the DA (which was submitted when I applied for the green card last year, so I didnt have it with me. Only the copy). Then she went through all my application with me. Then she asked proof that I am still married. Asked me what my husband does. She went to talk to the supervisor to see if it would be okay to just have the copy of the letter from the DA. The supervisors were busy so she couldn't get a hold of anyone. She said she was sure it would not be a problem and gave my a letter saying she was recommending for approval but they could request the original. That I would receive the letter for the oath or a RFE for the original letter. I think it will be fine! So I will wait for what comes in the mail now! :)

  4. Congrats! What type of questions about your relationship did they ask? My interview is tomorrow in LA too! So nervous!!! :) I think you might take the oath next month, fingers crossed for you!

i've passed the naturalization in the 23rd. It got delayed for 10 days. My appointment was at 10:50 and I got there at 10. I checked in and waited for exact 50 minutes to be called at USCIS builing. The questions were very easy. I got the first 3 ones right so she skipped the rest. She told me to read 1 sentence and write one sentence. The thing is I feel like this interview was not focus on the civics questions. It was all about my marriage. She asked me tons of questions about my relationship with my partner after the first part. I was finished after abut 30 minutes. I will receive the oath ceremony appointment letter in the mail within 1 to 3 months. Now I have a big issue. I have a Europe trip coming up on the 28th of July? Will I be able to get my passport before I go? ?Without an American passport I can't go. How long does it take to have a passport? I don't mind paying more to get it fast. I have a Vietnamese passport that is a pain in the ### to get a visa to Europe. I live in Los Angeles . Thanks everyone

  5. Congrats Marie and thanks for sharing your experience! Mine is next Friday in the same office!

Sorry for the delay, but here it is. (I have been out-of-town on a work trip.) I had my interview last Friday, June 12, at the Los Angeles Field Office. I'm pretty familiar with the surrounding area, so driving there and estimating traffic was a breeze. There's a parking lot across the street for $16, but I went around looking for meter parking - no luck, so I ended up parking a block away for $6 instead. My appointment was at 11:30 am, and I walked into the building at 11:05am. There was no line to get in the building. I stood downstairs for a few minutes, just to review the questions all over again. I went up to the 8th floor, and got called in at exactly the time of my appointment. The officer lady was very friendly, and immediately made small talk with me as we walked into her office. As soon as we got into her office, she asked me to raise my right hand and swear to tell the truth. After that, she had me sit down and told me that we are going to start with the test before we go over my application. She asked me to read: "Who lives in the White House?" Then, she asked me to write, " The President lives in the White House." She checked off a sheet in front of her, and marked the correct box. After that, she went on and asked me 6 civics questions, which I got all correct. The questions were as follows:

    (1) What is one promise you make when you become a United States Citizen?

    (2) Where is the Statue of Liberty?

    (3) Who is the Governor of your state now?

    (4) What movement tried to end racial discrimination?

    (5) If both the President and Vice President can no longer serve, who becomes President?

    (6) There are four amendments to the Constitution about who can vote. Describe one of them.

Since I got them all right, she stopped there and counted the questions again. She marked something in her computer, and in the sheet in front of her she was writing exactly how I responded to the questions. She told me that I got them all right, and continued in her computer typing some stuff there. She then said that she will proceed asking me questions about my application, and that went smooth. My application was based on the 5 year rule, but still asked me about what my Husband did for a living. After we went through the whole application, she said that everything went well and continued to type on her computer. As she was typing, she started to converse with me about what I did for a living, she seemed a bit interested. After she finished typing, she went to her printer and gave me the notice that my application has been recommended for approval. Overall, the whole experience was very smooth. And, as of Monday, June 15, I have been placed in-line for the oath ceremony (no name change).

Hope my experience helps some of you guys. :)

  6. Thank you so much for sharing it!!! And Congratulations!!!!

    Local Office: Santa Clara, CA

    Interview Date: 06/04/15

    Time: 9:45am

I arrived at the USCIS office at 9:30am. I was instructed to leave my interview notice at Window 1 and wait for my name to be called. The IO called my name at exactly 9:45am. He went over my application docs, making sure all informations are coorect. Then he proceed with the Civic questions.

    1. Give 1 branch of the goverment.

    2. Who leads the executive branch?

    3. If the President can no longer serve, who will take over?

    4. Give 2 original colonies

    5. Who is Martin Luther King?

    6. What is an amendment?

Reading: What State is the most populated?

Writing: California is the most populated State

Then he said Congratulations!! Wait for the Oath Taking letter and be sure to attend. He also gave me a passport application and reminded me that I can apply after the oath taking ceremony. Our local office usually held their Oath taking ceremony in Campbell, CA. I checked the Heritage Theater website and it looks like their is a scheduled Oath Taking on June 18th. I am hoping to receive my Oath Taking letter before the 18th. Otherwise, I will take oath in July.

    Good Luck Everyone!!

I would call them and ask about the status since it has been 27 days and you are not in line yet. :)

  8. Noticed that just one person got their interview date as of today... If it is taking forever for people that applied before me cant imagine when I will get my interview date. Saw online that the Arizona office is now processing July, 2014. Does anyone know what that means? Would that mean we will wait a year for our interview?

    Thanks! (Sorry I am anxious! :) )

  9. I would say, it is worth to try. I have a new friend on Facebook who just engaged to an American. She's from Indonesia as well and her tourist visa was approved. She was never been to another country before and the U.S. visa was the only visa on her passport. I would say, some of part of this process somehow involved what we called "luck".

Yes, it is luck! When I applied for my tourista visa I told the consul I was going to visit my boyfriend (which is today my husband) and i got the visa!
