Hello VJ Members,
I was hoping to see if anyone received a response similar to mine when I e-mailed the Abu Dhabi embassy in regards to the status of my fiance's K-1 visa. I understand that the overall response to my e-mail is stating the case is still undergoing administrative processing, but in a couple of previous instances when I e-mailed the embassy, they did not state anything about the State Department. What could that mean? Does this mean it is a step closer or is there just name checks. Any response in helping me figure out what stage my fiance's case is possibly at would help. Here what their response to my email:
Dear Ms. *******
Our records indicate that case # ABD******** is still undergoing administrative processing. We realize that these extended time periods cause frustration to many individuals, and we are sensitive to the fact that the purpose of the immigrant visa program is to re-unite families. Nonetheless, the U.S. Embassy Abu Dhabi, like all U.S. Embassies and Consulates, must adjudicate visas in accordance with the provisions of the law, and, in some cases, this involves extensive administrative processing. While we cannot predict when the processing of Mr. ***** visa will be completed, please be assured that the Embassy and the State Department are aware of your concerns and will do all we can to see that the visa is adjudicated as soon as Mr.****** administrative processing is complete.
Applicants, petitioners and/or their legal representatives may check the status of the case on our website at: http://www.abudhabiivo.net/ as we update it regularly. As soon as this processing is completed, the Embassy will post a message to this website with further instructions. Please continue to check this website on a regular basis for updates. There is no need for you to write, email, call or fax the Embassy with inquiries on the case, as that will not speed processing.
Thank you,

First and foremost, congratulations on receiving your visa. I wish I could have had the same experience as you did. I had accompanied my fiance during his interview in Abu Dhabi and the consular officer repeatedly said everything was fine-paperwork and interview, but we weren't granted a visa on the spot. Instead, she handed us the 221 g and even though no further documents were needed, we are now in administrative processing stage. It has now been close to 90 days (Dec. 10th marks our 90 day mark). Hmm..anyhow, I think each case is unique and consider yourself lucky!

After 2 months and 15 days of waiting my fiance FINALLY got the call. I'm so HAPPY.....THANKS to ALL the people who helped me on this board.
Oh, that's wonderful! You must be so relieved. It seems as if quite a few VJ members have either gotten out of AP or have their VISA. i am hoping a few others of us here some good news as well.

thank u yasie... u submitted ur passport ?
Asad,
I did not have to submit my passport at the Embassy level because I am the petitioner. They requested a copy of my fiance's passport and looked at the passport, but they didn't keep it. The CO told us we were fine, but needed to go through some more additional processing.

Hi,
I hope you will get good news very soon (Inshallah). Today I have very good news to share with you. I got the call from embassy and they asked me to come and collect my immigrant visa and package from embassy. I rushed to embassy and finally got what we were struggling for last few month (Alhumdulilah). It took me exactly 2 month , 1 week and 1 day to come out of AP after interview and get my visa. I really hope and I pray that you guys will soon get out of this black hole and soon I will listen good news from your side especiallu I was thinking of 'EAbass' and 'Carolynhotstuff', who desperately waiting to get out of AP. At the end I would like to say thanks to all vj members for their extra ordinary support and help. Now I am planning to fly to USA and my expected POE will be SFO . I will share my POE experience when I get there somewhere during next week .
Even though my fiance's case isn't the one out of AP, it still makes me happy to see others out of this misery. I am so happy for you. I wish we all get good news. I am starting to get depressed because he's not here.

hey all
i want to ask about PCC of Dubai(UAE) , i already submit my PCC to NVC now my interview on 8 DEC and my Police certificate expired , do i need new one on interview date?
Asad- Yes, you are going to need a new police certificate.
For a Filipino living in Dubai, and interviewing for a K-1 visa in UAE, it says we need police clearance. Anyone know if that would be NBI in Philippines, or local police, or both? Also, do we get local police clearance in UAE or something else?
You definitely need a police certificate from the local police station- I believe there is one on Naif Rd in Dubai called the Naif Police Station. You will also need one for living in the Philippines.

Thank you, we are just waiting now(with no patience, lol) to hear back from them.I emailed them again, sure hope i don't get on anyones nerves with that lol.
Although they kept his passport at the interview and gave us back all of our documents that we submitted so it should not take long.
Hey, having a consular officer give you information like that is very good considering how normally they send you one or two sentences of nothing. Hang in there!!
The consular officer had said what i wrote above at the time of the interview. I don't even bother e-mailing the embassy because I received a standard response once. So, any thoughts on how long it takes if it is just at the embassy?

Can you contact Dos again and find out if your case was ever in washington? Seems yours is at the embassy under processing it just means they are checking documents, that type of admin. If the Dos says you were at washington and then your AP completed and then returned to embassy that could be good news as from what i have read numerous times now is that after name checks your papers are sent for final review at the embassy before the visa is ready to be sent and the time on that varies by embassy. contacting the embassy might get you just another standard reply if any at all..."case under processing, yadayadayada"
we received notice on ours just recently and i posted it on my profile exactly what it said.
if your case has not been in washington then you may, not 100% positive, but may face a delay as they finish processing at the embassy then send it off for name checks in washington. I hope that's not the case. Good luck getting answers.Usually name checks are done right after the interview but maybe it varies by embassy. keep me posted ok!!
I'm happy for you. I did read your post on your page, it is nice to know at least someone has passed AP stage! Hopefully, you'll get news soon for him to drop off his passport. As for me, I am going to call DOS and ask if it was ever in Washington, but it sounded like it never left the embassy and isn't going to. The consular officer did repeatedly say, "you guys are fine, everything is fine." I hope it's nothing major. I want this process to end, so I can move on with my life!

Me too yasie and the consular clearly told us approved and many of the interviewers that came after me have already surpassed AP and gotten their visas. my interview was sept 15 and it usually takes around 2 months-3 but until the visa is in my husbands hands i will still be nervous.
Hang in there, Om and Abo Malik. Hopefully, this ugly AP will end soon.

An update:
I called DOS to get any info on my case. The representative responded: I can't give you any information as to the details of your case, but I can tell you the status of the case. The status is still "pending" or "processing" but I DO KNOW NOW THAT IT IS NOT IN WASHINGTON, IT IS AT THE ABU DHABI EMBASSY. What could that mean??

I suggest that you talk to NVC and may be get your consulate changed to Pakistan - it is possible to change the consulate with valid reasons.
You have two options:
1) try and extend your visa in UAE if possible, since it seems the they process applications a lot quicker there than in Pakistan, especially if you are put in AP (which I am guessing because you will be).
OR
2) Go back to Pakistan and have your interview at U.S. Embassy in Pakistan. I think you will end up having to wait a lot longer.
If you are on a visa in U.A.E, yes, you have to be employed by the employer it states on your visa. You seem to have a temporary workers visa like my fiance, so yes, you do need to be employed by which ever employer is stated on your visa. However, if you go back to Pakistan you would not need to be employed.

i am not thinking that administrative processing is a denial. we were "approved" at our interview then placed into ap. Yes yours is a standard reply. You just have to wait and keep checking the status either by email or on your embassy site.
Sara, this is frustrating. I keep checking the website and it states the same message. I kind of panicked after the third week went it read: "Case Number Not Found," but then I contacted the embassy via e-mail about ten times and finally received a reply only a day later after the status was changed back to "administrative processing." The response to my e-mail was pretty much: check to see if you have the right e-mail address or case number. I think after putting the case number multiple times in one day I would know if I had accidentally typed something wrong. HOW FRUSTING IS THIS ENTIRE PROCESS! I will keep you updated. Please let me know what happens with your case as well.
Thanks,
Yasie
Om and Abu Malik,
I think you are right. We were not denied, but the fact that he doesn't have his visa in hand still worries me.
Yasie.

I am so happy for you. I know how frustrating the situation might have been. Wish you all the best and I hope you receive the passport with visa very soon.
It's great to hear someone is actually over the AP process. Insha'allah your husband will get his visa. You'll be in my prayers.

thanks for all the info!

I would remove my case number. You don't want anyone with bad intentions to get a hold of that.

Is administrative review and administrative processing the same thing??? Also, when I check my fiance's case status it says "application in processing." FYI: I was present at the interview, CO said we were fine--paperwork submitted was good and the interview went well according to her. Interview date was Sept. 12th at UAE-Abu Dhabi. Do you have any info on what I should expect?

Hello fellow VJ members...
I had emailed the embassy five times over the weekend stressing concerns of my case status. When I checked today it says application in processing. Weird, but I am real happy to see that.. I suppose things can be worse than being in AP!

Can anybody enlighten us about some of the advantages/disadvantages of having a baby in the US vs the Philippines?
Are the better hospitals in Philippines (Davao area) up to international standards? What's the approximate cost of having a baby in Philippines?
How much will the country where the child is born affect the future child's citizenship and property rights in Philippines? (Dad is a US citizen, Mom is a Filipina)?
Thanks in advance for any advice!
If you want your child to be U.S citizen and avoid going to paperwork, have your child in the United States(that's assuming you guys are living in the States). As for the medical cost and so on, haven't a clue.

Call DOS like the other person said, you should not be using USCIS to check the case status anymore as they have nothing to do with the case anymore.
I am not using the USCIS website. When the interview at the embassy was completed, the CO gave me a sheet with the website address to check his visa status. This is the website for the U.S. Embassy in Abu Dhabi. I am so freaking frustrated! I can't believe this has happened, but I will call the number you guys have provided.
Thanks for the advice.

Your case is at the embassy your not going to see anymore updates on USCIS case status.
I understand that, but I am just confused why in the past weeks it read: "application in process" and all of the sudden, it says "case number not found." Is my fiance's visa denied? Is it almost done? Has anyone gone through something similar?
Any information is greatly appreciated!

or it could be a simple mistype or, maybe they have completed AP, I would just recheck tomorrow if i were you (and I assumed you were checking off of uscis and not through the embassy - but any work on the uscis case updates system could be affected noone knows for sure)
Thanks Chris. I just e-mailed the embassy. I am concerned that he might have been refused! I know it can't be a mistype. I have written the case number at least twice a day in that space it provides. IT'S SUCH AN ANNOYING PROCESS!

How you are filing in the embassy in Islamabad, Pakistan?? I hear it takes longer to get a visa there than Afghanistan.
