Hello! I haven't posted here for some time now. How's everyone?
Anyway, my Conditional GC will expire on Feb next year. So I have to renew within 90 days from expiration, which is November...now my problem is I have to travel to the Philippines on July of next year.
So my question is...assuming (and I hope) I get the 10 yr GC after my travel, how can I travel out of the country? can I re-enter with an expired conditional gc? I read that I can bring my noa1 with me...is this true? and if so, will I get it before or at least within 6 months after applying?
thanks so much!!!

Hi! I finally have my green card. but the thing is, ever since my husband and i got married, i haven't changed my passport to my married name. and now we want to travel out of the country this june. is it okay for me to go out of the country with my old passport, which is still in my maiden name, but then my green card is in my married name?
thanks!

I think it is up to the IO, research on VJ for similar actions and see what the results were.
ok! thanks!
i did research on vj though, and there are so many mixed answers! there are some who got approved, and some that got denied. seems like the surest way is through the congressman...which is what we're going to do now.

You can try, its up to the person who is working on your case if they accept it or not.
thanks!

Hi! Just wanted to ask if anyone here was able to successfully expedite their I765. It's just that I have a baby on the way and I would like to start working as soon as possible. My husband, a USC, has stable work, but with a baby on the way, we would need more than one of us working. Would that be a valid reason?

thanks for everyone's replies!

yes, it stays that way until you get an interview letter, and since it is at csc it should be quicker and they will try to complete it without an interview
thank you!!!

Hi! I filed for AOS on the last week of October. Did my biometrics a few days ago. Then yesterday, I received mail that my case has been transferred to CSC to speed up the process. Then I checked the USCIS website, and it says that my case is still under initial review.
Should I be worried? Is it normally still supposed to be under initial review at this time? Thanks so much!!!

wow...thank you for your insights everyone!

Get married, apply for AOS, your AP and EAD. When EAD received then you can work. It is presumed that on K1 you can work, employers need a EAD.You can get your SSS card two week's after entry on K1.
okay thanks!

There is this thing the company will check called E-verify. And they will put your SSN in it and it will say NOT LEGAL TO WORK.
E-verify website that checks your legal status before you can be hired.
I-9 you have to fill out using documents proving you are allowed to work.
You can try doing a self check if your state is listed. It will tell you that you cannot work.
okay...thanks again! this is very helpful. i'm going to have to call the people who just hired me and be straight with them. if it's really for me, then it'll be waiting for me.

Okay...thanks for the replies everyone...

I read on a USCIS site, or was it another forum?? (my head spins with these things!) that you CAN begin working straight away. Ring the USCIS office and get it from them would be my advice. Congratulations on your run of good luck
yeah maybe i will do that. thanks!
sounds like you needed to do a little more research before you accepted a job this fast.. you may want to tell your new future boss you may not be legal to start work on monday.. until you get the sorted out
i knoooow. i just got so excited and i wanted to help my husband pay for the house and immigration papers and things like that....

Ok! Thanks for the reply!
If you got the 90-day EAD (valid exactly as long as the K-1, nonrenewable), then yes.
Otherwise, you need to wait till you have your proper EAD in hand.
hi! what is the 90 day EAD? how can i get that? thank you!

Hi!
I have been so blessed the past few days. I arrived here in the States safely, I just got married, and just today, I had my first job interview and was accepted!
Now...here's my issue...I didn't think I'd get a job right away. I just recently applied for my SSN, and I'm just going to apply for my EAD...my work starts next Monday. Can I go ahead and work? It's just that this is such a big opportunity for me.
Thanks for the replies!

i didn't do my medical in toronto, but then i guess every clinic will ask if you've ever used any illicit drugs.
and just so you know...pot usually stays in the system for around 4-6 months, and longer if you're on the heavy side.

It will take a long time before you get your packet instruction. I got mine a day before my scheduled interview. You can pay the visa fee now. You have to pay before calling the embassy. When you pay, bring your passport.

What is a personal copy?
a personal copy is the second nbi clearance attached to the one you're supposed to submit. it's just for your personal record keeping.
so anyway...if all you have is a personal copy, i suggest you get another one. i don't know anyone who's been to the usem with just the personal copy.
good luck!

hi! i'm not sure how it is in malaysia, but here in the philippines, they're just concerned about infectious diseases. so if our clinics aren't any different, then i guess you shouldn't have any problem.
