  1. I'm a little surprised your check is not cashed yet. Did you follow the instructions and attached all the necessary documents? If you did not follow the instructions your petition might be returned without cashing your check. However, If your are going to get RFEs for incomplete documents, your check should be cashed and you get your NOA 1 usually in 1 to 3 weeks.

    Thank you everyone!

Tero-> I think we followed everything. I couldn't think of any mistakes we've made. Unless my guy forgot something cuz he's the last one who checked and sent the pack.

I asked my fiance to inquire if the check has been cashed so he called his bank yesterday and it's not.

I noticed that most of the VJ K1 applicants got their NOA within a week, so it's making me a bit worried/nervous.

  2. Sa mga ka-VJ na dumaan na sa K1 visa process...

It's been more than 2 weeks since we sent our I-129 pack and we haven't received anything yet (our check has not been encashed too.) So I asked my guy to call USCIS yesterday to inquire. They told him it might take as long as 1 month before we get our NOA1. (Hoping not an RFE.)

So, my questions: 1. Is it ok if I work on the other requirements like NBI, police clearance, visa pics, evidence etc. even if we haven't received our NOA's yet?

    2. Will the dates on the documents matter/be too early?

    3. Are there other things I should work on first while waiting for the NOA's?

I'm trying to work on the wedding details, as well, but there's only so much I can do because everything else is dependent on the visa approval.

I just want to make the most of my "waiting period."

    Thanks!

  3. If you filed Jan 30, I am assuming you got your NOA1 in Feb, then give it 4-6 months for approval and 2 months for NVC, medical and interview.. I think a late September or October wedding would be a safer bet :) You should consider crystal bouquets. Flowers are so expensive in the US. I had mine made in Divisoria, you can view it in my blog. If you have any questions, feel free to ask, I planned my entire wedding on my own during the whole process too :)

Thanks for the tips messybrown! I'm actually thinking of moving the date to Sept 4, my birthday.

Re flowers: I do want to use real flowers as bouquet, but I'm planning to just make it myself. I'm considering using anemones so it'll be easier to arrange and I like them. I might buy all the flowers for the wedding at the flower area in LA to save some money and not hire a florist but ask my Ma and bridesmaids to help me DIY them.

You have a really nice wedding blog. I've been toying with the idea of creating one. :)

  4. That all will happen, even in the best marriages. You get, in marriage, only what you bring into it. Your future wife will have to adjust on many levels, as will you. It will be frustrating at times, for both of you. I guarantee things will go exactly as planned, if you are looking for things to go bad already.

She is moving to a new country. She will get homesick. Some of the things she does will irritate you. She probably won't say anything to you about your flaws. She will cry a lot, make tampo, and may even try to run away a couple times. She will get over it, and expect you to make lambing.

Kuya, you must be married to a Filipina for a looong time now. :)

  5. RE: Wedding dress and preparations

    Same here!

I'm trying to plan and prepare for our wedding while we're waiting for the papers. We just submitted the I-129 last Jan 30, so it might still take a while before the NOA2 comes. We're expecting for the NOA1 this week though. Crossing our fingers!

I do know of a good wedding dress designer/maker in Parañaque. She's going to make mine and my Ma's dress. So if you need a referral just let me know. I was in Divisoria last Saturday with my Ma and we saw a really nice wedding dress inside one of the shops. Tastefully done I tell you! They said if you have a pic or a design of your dream wedding dress they could copy it for you. And it's really cheap there.

They also have a street named Tabora with all types of wedding souvenirs/items at bargain rates. But I found a PUNI maker site on Facebook and I ordered some of their products as wedding souvenirs and decors. If you also need their contact info just let me know.

I do have a concern. My fiance and I are planning for an Aug 6 wedding in California but we're not sure if my fiancee visa will be approved before our target date. Will it be safer to shoot for a September wedding?

    What do you think? Thanks!

  6. Hey everyone! I'm not sure if these questions have been answered before, please forgive me I'm a newbie here.

My fiance and I are currently working on our documents for the visa application (K1). I'm about to print my G325A and my letter of intent and I also made him a copy of a cover letter, by the way I'm in Manila right now. I was just wondering if we should use the same dates in the forms (I-129F, G-325A) and the letters (letter of intent and cover letter)?

Second question is, is the Service Center the same as the Lockbock Facility? My fiance lives in Cali, but the Lockbox Facility in the form that we downloaded from the USCIS website is in Dallas, Texas and for the express mail, it's in Lewisville, TX. Where should I address the letter of intent & cover letter?

Thank you so much for any answer/help you will extend.

    Blessings!

    Lj :)
