  1. Excellent answer. Thank you for the thoughtful response.
  2. Please, enlighten me on the major issues to "our plan". We have a set date. Venue. Guests. Etc. We aren't going to change that.
  3. Our plan is not to marry right away upon entry. Our marriage date is closer to the 90-day mark. Therefore, for the first 80+ days, she will not be on my insurance. In the meantime, we need options for insurance. A K-1 is a Non-Immigrant Visa, technically. So, how would travel insurance not work to cover my fiancée's needs until the marriage date? Other non-immigrant visas can cover a traveler to the US for 90 days. Why is this non-immigrant visa any different?
  4. Greetings, My fiancee is arriving this month. I would like to purchase travel insurance for her so she will be covered up until marriage (she will be added to my employer's insurance afterward). What companies are the best? I have done some research and cannot seem to find a consensus for people traveling to the US. I want something that will handle any medical issues that may arise, even if it is pricey. Does anyone have any advice? Feel free to PM me if you don't want to share publicly. Thanks.
  5. Any updates on this? How long did it take for them to process your 221g? What were the CEAC statuses that you encountered before finally getting the visa?
  6. Greetings, Since our case was moved from Ghana to South Africa, we have been dealing with a very quick turnaround. This week, we received Packet 3, completed the DS-160, paid the MRV fee, and scheduled the interview. In South Africa, the medical appointment is scheduled by The Beneficiary. Since my fiancee is travelling from Ghana to South Africa, we obviously wanted her time there to be minimal. The next time available for the interview was July 21. However, the only medical exam time available before that interview date was the day before on July 20th. I am assuming that the medical results will not be received in time for the interview. Here are my questions: 1. Do you think we need to reschedule the interview or medical date to have more time between them? 2. If The Beneficiary shows up to the interview without the embassy having received the medical results, what will happen? 3. I have read that some people won't get a verbal approval of the visa, but rather will get approval a week later when the medical is finally received. Has anyone had that happen to them? If so, what happened? Thoughts?
  7. Our case was moved to South Africa, so I cannot comment on Ghana. We have done the DS-160, and the medical and interview are scheduled to be completed in July.
  8. Has anyone here done their K-1 interview in SA? How did you schedule your interview date? We filed our DS-160, but nothing appears in their embassy portal for JoBurg to schedule it. I would appreciate some help. Thanks.
  9. My fiancee submitted her DS-160 today after getting the READY status in CEAC. The South African embassy has a web portal to get interview dates. However, when she logs in, nothing is there. Does it take a while to process it or something? What are we missing here? That portal is apparently where we pay the MRV fee and schedule. I would submit this topic in the sub Saharan Africa thread, but nobody every responds there. I also PM'd a bunch of SA people who did this, all to no avail. Anyone have suggestions?
  10. I didn't get NVC received until day 93. Sit tight. The expiration date means nothing. Embassy will automatically renew it.
  11. Greetings, I have some questions in advance of our K-1 interview in Johannesburg, SA: 1. Does the embassy require that the interview is scheduled before the medical exam can be scheduled? The medical examiner site has an appointment request form that asks for the interview date. 2. How long does it take for the medical facility to get the results to the embassy after the medical exam? A few days? A few weeks? 3. What is a typical timeframe between the medical exam and the interview date? 4. Did you receive notifications from the JHN consulate via snail mail or email? 5. How efficient was the consulate in Johannesburg? Did they communicate well and effectively with those applying for a visa?
  12. Thank you for the response. I am glad to hear this.
  13. Mine was shipped from USCIS to NVC on 5/22. My case number date at NVC was June 14. So, 3 weeks.
