Hi,

We had our K-1 interview on Feb 23 and were approved. However, when we checked with the courier yesterday, they said they had still not received the visa from the Embassy for delivery. Is this normal? They did not say anything about additional processing to us at the interview. Has anyone else who interviewed around the same time received theirs?

Thanks

P.S. I am referring to US Embassy in London

Had my interview the same day and time. Haven't received mine. Check the interview thread for my experience as I can't rewrite it here at the moment. They must be a bit behind. It's a relief I am not the only one. I guess we need patience.

Hi h1a1, I remember that we had our interviews scheduled for the same day. I will look for your thread, but hope everything went okay! I went on US Embassy website and it says that the visa takes 5 business days to process, and then it looks like the courier takes one day to send, so hopefully we will get them by next week at the latest! if you get yours please let me know and I will do the same!

Here's my post from the interview thread:

Okay I haven't got my visa and my interview date was the 23rd of Feb. I called the courier and they hadn't received it from the embassy. So I called DOS because it's cheaper than the extortion line, right? They answered the phone kept me on hold for an unexplained reason and came back to me... gave them my case number and she was like "you're on additional processing... wait about another week". What??? So then I thought "did she mean administrative processing?" which would be bad, right? So I gave in and called the extortion line. The guy asked me why I was calling and I said it had been more then 5 days since my interview and it doesn't look like my visa was issued yet. He really didn't want to take my case number and asked me why I was so concerned so I explained and he was like "why did you call DOS?" so I said it was cheaper than calling the embassy and they've been able to give me updates before. So, finally he took my case number (way to go on keeping me on the phone for as long as possible) and said "I see absolutely no problems. Just give it a few more days, the 5 days is a guide and not really a rule" and then he explained what AP means and that he doesn't see anything that suggests it pertains to my case.

So... now I'm confused.

There was an extra wait for us to get our interview dates so hopefully it's just a backlog to actually get the visas processed/printed whatever it is they do. Like you I was told I was approved... pay the courier and 5 days. My actual interview took less than a minute and I was only asked one question! And there was nothing to suggest my visa would take any longer than normal to issue.

Smells like either AP or London is lagged.

DOS has the current info, though.

(or at least, no more than 24 hours old)

When you call back - ask for:

1. current status, with date/time stamp and

2. prior 3 status thingies, with date/time stamp.

You might need to 'tell' the DOS person to scroll down, or go to page 2, to get to the prior status stuff.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

But if it was AP surely I'd have been told this at the interview? The guy at the Embassy told me I'd have been informed by them if I was in AP.

DOS doesn't have the current info from my experience. Before I got my interview date in the evening I called them and they said "Still processing... no interview date" yet the next morning I got a letter dated 2 days before giving me my interview date. Less than 12 hours before DOS couldn't tell me this interview date on the phone.

Yeah DOS can be pretty unreliable sometimes...I've called them a couple of times a day a few times and gotten different answers for each call!

Give it another week, OP. Sorry for the wait :( Are you trying to rush to get into POE?

Well I called DX (I'm really impatient) and they said that it looks like it was processed by the embassy today at 4pm and should be handed to them tomorrow... he said that's what happens 99% of the time and I should get it Monday/Tuesday.

I had my interview on Feb 22nd, it was over in three minutes and I was told that I was 'good to go', but a fortnight later and I'm still waiting for my passport...where is it?!? I'm glad that you've both got yours back, but by now I'm convinced that despite all my best efforts, every step just has to be that little bit longer than everyone else's!!

Did you call the courier yet? They can tell you if the embassy have processed you and if they are about to release your passport to them. I feel for you because it's frustrating to wait so long.

Yes, I've already called DX, and I check the site a few times a day...but nope, it's not processed yet! I had intended to fly back to the US on the 16th, it's just as well I changed my mind and delayed it until early April!! When do you hope to travel?

My POE is this Sunday.

Have you called DOS? It's so strange how some get their passport back after 3-4 days and others have to wait weeks after an "approval". I was told by DOS that I'd been put into AP. If I was then I guess I'm lucky it only held things up for a couple of days. I really hope you get yours back soon.
