So, we had our AOS interview in May and received the greencard shortly after. Today I open the mail and there is a letter from the USCIS. This is what it says:

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

October 19, 2006

XXXXnameXXXX

XXXaddressXXX

Re: XXXXnameXXXX

On 9/8/2006 you, or your designated representative, contacted the National Customer Service Center about your case. Some of the key information give at that time was the following:

Case type: I485

Receipt Number: MSCXXXXXXXXXX

A Number: AXXXXXXX

Since the date the request was received concerning the application referenced above, Service systems show that your application was approved and the card or document was produced. The card or document was sent to the address on file at the time, and it has not been returned to the Service as undeliverable.

Therefore, the above-referenced inquiry is considered to be resolved. If you applied for an Employment Authorization Document (I-765) or an Advanced Parole Document (I-131) and did not receive it, you will need to reapply with the correct fee and documentation. However, if you have since received your Legal Permanent Residence card (I-551), you do not need to apply for these documents because you may work and travel as a Legal Permanent Resident. If you applied to adjust your status (I-485) or to replace your Legal Permanent Resident Card (I-90) and you did not receive your card, you will need to file form I-90 "A", Application to Replace Permanent Resident Card, with the correct fee and documentation.

You may download these forms by visiting the webiste at www.uscis.gov.

If you have any further questions, please call the National Customer Service Center at 1-800-375-5283.

Please remember: By law, every person who is not a U.S. citizen and who is over the age of 14 must also notify the Department of Homeland Security within 10 days from when the move (persons in "A" or "G" nonimmigrant status are exempt from this requirement). If you have moved please complete form AR-11 and mail it to the address shown on that form. If you do not have this form, you can print it from our website or you can call the National Customer Service Center at 1-800-375-5283 to request the form. If you change your address, we also request that you call USCIS, at the number above, with the new address as soon as possible.

I am confused, why are they sending us this letter. We did not contact them on 9/8/2006. Why would we? We have the greencard, all is good. Who called? Why do they have the Receipt Number and A Number. We never had to call the USCIS. We have no representative. Anyone have an ideeea of what might have happened here?

Thanks,

Octavia

The way to find out if you love someone or not, is by talking to them.

The more you talk to them the more you either hate them or love them.

Well, I don't know why they did that (you could always call but an infopass appointment will probably be more helpful) but your letter does kind of resolve the address change debate in another thread! :)

I agree with JamesMiranda, give them a call and make an infopass appointment. Check why would they do this?

I recieved the same letter about 2 months ago.... I asked at infopass and found out that it came from a call I made to the infoline when I was waiting for my EAD.. I do remember them saying they would start a case status check and to call back in 30 days.... it has only taken them 14 months to send a response....

Wow, 14 months that was short. Well, we never gave them a call, have an infopass or anything of that sort. We never contacted them about anything.

Thank you for your responses everyone. I will try to contact them now
