No, but the guy's story as reported doesn't seem to make a lot of sense on its own, and that's what reminded me of the Smith case. A group of Speedy Gonzales chased down the guy's car and said 'don't want any gringo here' and stabbed him just as he was going about his business?

I agree, if the facts are stated correctly, that it might count as a hate crime. And I'm not arguing that the guy stabbed himself. Just that something in the story isn't making a lot of sense.

Been a couple days since I read the story but as I recall, the man said "I'm a firefighter", since this place was close to the station, how hard is it to believe these (alleged) 6 guys knew where they needed to go to get the 1 firefighter?

on this I would agree, not all the facts are in the story but if you live in Boston you might know the area and need not be told the distance between the place of the initial confrontation and where the stabbing occurred, those of us who do not live in the area...that fact COULD be important.
