How important are phone records & emails? We use pre-paid cards (a penny a minute, I'm for it) & we have some emails scattered from the 3 years we've known each other...but we usually talk online or have webcam talks. So there's nothing to show from those...

I just didn't know if they'd frown if we only sent in the few emails that we do have. The time lines between them are from after we met then one every few months. Actually, I used to have a load of them from him, but had most of them deleted last year...never thought I'd be so lucky to prepare for K1 visas. :P

I'm a worrier, which is why I am asking this. When I read these sort of things, I don't know how serious they are about such requirements.

You should have chat transcripts, yes? Print those out, they're evidence.

More is generally better. If you're using calling cards, then you should be able to get minutes usage reports. If you're using Skype you can get records for that too. Not having a lot of evidence that you've been communicating in an "ongoing" relationship doesn't automatically disqualify you, but it may raise questions. I wouldn't stress too much about it, but do try to look at all your evidence the way a neutral party would look at it. Would you be convinced of an "ongoing" relationship?

Hope that helps. Best of luck to you both!

Thank you for the reply.

We can only have transcripts if we had actually enabled that feature on programs...right? If so...yeah I never thought about saving any of them! Even if that was the case, I've been through 3 computers since we met, so any transcripts would be gone! Now his pc is broken, so we are using phone cards exclusively...I'll start saving all of them.

If I was the neutral party, I would be convinced...if the couple had enough emails between each other. The whole chatting online & not having any logs from them is really annoying now though..

One can mark out personal info in emails right? The emails I did save are mushy, sometimes naughty ones...kinda too personal. haha

This is our second petition. (Same fiancée, we had to terminate our first petition due to some personal issues.) Anyway... We did not send in any phone records or e-mails. We sent copies of travel tickets, passport stamps, visas, and photos together. We were approved no problem. Personally, I would not worry about it, if you have other solid evidence you two met each other.

The relationship stuff is really for the interview although it can't hurt to include a sampling in the petition just to paint a picture for them. When I was interviewed at London I took as much relationship stuff as I could find such as emails, letters, cards, screen prints of skype logs, boarding passes etc but I wasn't asked for any of it. It is best to take it just in case though.

I sent copies of our used prepaid calling cards.

As far as personal info in e-mails...we sent 5 e-mails (with translations) and I was careful which ones I sent. We had TONS to choose from as well. But you can use a marker to block out info that no one needs to read but you and your SO.

I chose 5 from over the years, some talking about plans to meet, anniversaries, just love in general...

Oh I'm such a romantic... (L)
