Hi everyone...

I am going to have my letter from employer written soon. I am supposed to be making x amount but the authorization is still sitting on the CEO's desk...who know's when it will go through. Can I still put on the letter the amount I should be making after the raise? It is supposed to be retroactive.

How sure are you that the raise is going to happen, and that it will be retroactive? That should answer your question. Obviously if there is a discrepency between the letter you wind up with and the salary you indicate on the form, that could be problematic.

The raise is going through, but yes...if I have to wait a bit longer for the letter, I guess I will do that. Sqdn...no word yet about your petition?

You are so jumping the gun. 6 weeks, someone suggested? You don't even have your NOA 2 yet. It's gonna be at LEAST 3 months until the interview, starting from the date of the NOA 2, unless you're military and can expedite your case. My fiance's NOA 2 was approved Oct. 15th and it just now -- Nov. 9 -- got sent to the BKK consulate. There are 2 letters to go and an interview wait of an estimated 2-3 months from there. Plus, the letter should be dated closer to the time, anyway, so it's current.

Got an RFE this morning....they mailed it yesterday.....no biggie, I should have it in the mailbox tomorrow. The CSC is only 30 miles from me, too bad I couldn't just go down there and pick it up.

Now, you tell me...my employer just handed me a very professional looking letter yesterday, typed on business stationary. Guess I will just have to toss it out, and ask for a more updated one in a few months. :(

Tanjay, don't worry about your letter. My response was to the original poster, not you. His situation is different than yours. He was saying he didn't have a raise he was waiting for yet, and wanted to do the employer letter before the raise went through. He is still working on correcting an RFE, and doesn't have his NOA2. By the time he'll need the letter, if he is getting a raise, it should go through by then, so there is no sense in doing a letter now.

Looking at your timeline, you've already been approved, and your petition may very well be at the NVC or sent out already to your beneficiary's country. If you don't expect your income to go up, then an employer letter dated now is perfectly fine. Just have some recent paystubs to show, and if you choose to use your checking account balance, have a recent print-out of the documents associated with that, closer to the date of the interview.

I have also been following timelines/regulations for BKK, not the Philippines, so also keep in mind that there may be different rules and timelines for each consulate.
