hi guys

as example of secondary evidence (birth certi.) :how long is the affidavit valid from the date of issue if we get a notarized affidavit from a close relative or parent on the appropriate stamp paper which must be sworn before a first class magistrate.

where in mumbai can one get this affidavit done?

Definition: An affidavit is a formal sworn statement of fact, signed by the declarant (who is called the affiant or deponent) and witnessed (as to the veracity of the affiant's signature) by a taker of oaths, such as a notary public. The name is Medieval Latin for he has declared upon oath.

To me that would mean that the affidavit is good as long as the person taking the oath belives the statement is still of fact or the truth.

Agreed with jasman0717, an affidavit doesn't have an expiry date (unless another affidavit negating it, is created).

I can't advise you about where to get the affidavit done in Mumbai. My hubby got his signed by a lawyer (friend of a friend of a friend) in a local town near his village in Andhra Pradesh.
