It's our airspace.

That's fine, but just so long as when you are traveling over CDN airspace you don't mind your information being shared with the CDN gov, and your name being kept in CDN security records for 10 days!

It's your airspace. (see where I'm going with this?)

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."

Senate Floor Speech on Public Debt

I hear you.. and that's exactly what I'm saying.. Although I KNOW the CDN gov. doesn't have the balls to do what I'm saying.. that's the frustrating bit.. they take everything lying down.

Why? Why would the Canadian government take this "lying down" when it could potentially impede on it's citizens?

Now honestly, I don't think this rule will do a whole lot to Canada. The TSA (please do not confuse this bumbling organization with the United States as a whole, as I am proud of the U.S., but I think the TSA is a complete mess) says it would require passenger manifests 72 hours ahead of the flight and then be updated before the flight takes off for any changes. They're not saying anything such as, "If you're not on this list when it's recorded three days ahead of time, then you can't fly!" They are, at least, leaving a provision for last-minute travelers (which is good since they certainly exist, especially in the business world) and the TSA has stated that they won't permanently retain the records.

Is this paranoia? I suppose in some ways, it could be, but in other ways, it's not really. I don't think the U.S. has a great deal to fear from Canada; however, no one thought we'd ever see 737's collide into the WTC towers either. So I can definitely see the different sides in this issue.

Because Canada tries to keep the peace with the US as much as possible.. they are our biggest trading partner, and obviously a World Power, and our closest neighbor. We have historically tried hard not to stir up the waters as a nation when it comes to the US because of our economic dependancy, and in a lot of cases have had the "favor" rammed up our butts..

Softwood lumber comes to mind... and there are others.

The war on Iraq being the exception, when Canada refused to go with the US.. and Canada IMO has suffered because of it. But it was a good step for Canada to stand on her convictions, and I really wish she would do more of it. It has nothing to do with the US really, my frustration, more that Canada refuses to stand up when restrictions or things are imposed on her from the US, She refuses to stand up and play ####### for tat.. she just goes along like a little obedient puppy dog.

I would like my Canada to lead a little more, not follow so much.
