Yet another evidence question

How many tax returns do you need to send in with your application? Just the latest one? Or do they want them all since you got married?

Ditto for bank statements - how many statements should I include in the packet? We have two small bank accounts which have both our names on the statement, but our main account does NOT put my name on their letters/statements even though I have a card for it and my name is printed on our checks. :( And it's too late to try to get them to change it... our joint credit cards also all arrive in DH's name. :( Does it look bad to send in a statement for an account that we're not even using any more (so it has a very low balance in it?)

I'm short on evidence... I was going to include the hotel invoice and stuff from our last vacation but when I found them the hotel only put DH's name on it so it's no good :( I've got a photo of both of us sitting in a restaurant on that trip...

I sent in all since we got married. We were married in 2005, so that meant 1040s for 2005 & 2006.

Re the "main account": If both names are on the checks, then that must mean you're joint account holders and the fact that both names aren't on the statements is merely a function of how they generate the statements.

If that's the case, I'd advise getting a letter of deposit from the bank. Most banks will do this for free, some will charge a nominal fee.

Re the "two small accounts": Get the statements showing both names, don't worry about the balance being low. You gotta work with what you got, after all. JMHO.

One of the things you can do is send photocopies of the cards from the account, that way you will ne showing they are from the same account... do the same for the credit cards include a few statements covering the time since you got married and include copies of both the cards...

I would still include the hotel info and any other things you have from your last vacation, We included our trip information and hotel receipts even though they were in my name alone, I did cross reference the payment for the Hotel on our joint Credit card statement.

I also included things like letters and cards sent to each of us at our home from family and friends and copies of joint membership cards to video store and health club.

The most inportant things are copies of your tax returns for each year you have been married, you can get a Tax Transcript from IRS just by calling the IRS number and they will even fax it to you if you have access to a fax... if not then they will mail them to you.. You will need lease or mortgage info or if you live with family then a letter from the home owner stating that you both live together in their home.

Include copies of all joint health insurance and if you are the beneficiary on any life insurance, insurance from an employer, car insurance, Car title.

Include as many photo's as you can showing you together and with family and friends.. and you can get family or friends to give you a affidavit of supprt saying that they know you both as a normal married couple...

Good Luck
