Ellen DeGeneres breaks down over dog she adopted taken away from her by shelter

On our TV newscast last night it said that the reason why the doggie organization removed the dog from the hairdresser's home was that they had requested to see the family and the home etc to see that the dog was to be well cared for etc and the request was refused.

Which explains why the humane society would take back the animal.

While Ellen may be sincere, she is using her 'celebrity status' to manipulate the situation to her favor. If she had brought them on the show to explain the situation I would have been more understanding. The teenager also seemed, to me, to be putting on a show for the media.

Taking the dog away, as per contractual agreement, is not the bad thing here. Making it out as if these people, who are usually volunteers, are the bad guys is just wrong.

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.

Fame/celebrity but how notoriety?

I don't think she envisaged death threats. I do think she hoped to change Mutt's minds with public pressure, which was low. I also think it's proved an unmitigated disaster for her but she's not really become a public menace because of it. :P

Refusing to use the spellchick!

I have put you on ignore. No really, I have, but you are still ruining my enjoyment of this site. .

I really don't think it's out of spite. These are people who rescue dogs for a living. They have their rules, and they want to apply them consistently.

Totally agree. Our beagle came from a rescue. They made it very clear when we got him that he can not be given to anyone else. The whole point of the rescue is to make sure that the dogs are in safe homes. We signed an agreement stating that we had to give the dog back to the rescue if we didn't want him.

If she didn't like it, she should have bought the dog from a pet store. (as much as I hate pet stores).

Oh dear. I'm not sure lipstick would help. In fact, I think it would make it scarier.

I think the pumpkin a$$ is horrifying enough to merit its own thread.

I wonder how far into the crack the orange extends.

**shudder**
