Hey Everyone,

I was at the social security office thursday to apply for SSN the officer told me i am authorize to have SSN he said because i am K3 holder; Is that normal?

I was thinking maybe because i haven't adjust my status yet that why is SSA said i am not authorized to have SSN, is that it ?

Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

I think that when you filled out one of the forms there was something to check to request a social security card. Hopefully someone will know. I wouldn't have any idea why you would be denied. Take a look at this link, maybe you can find something:

K3 visa holders are not work authorized so then can not gat a SSN..... you will have to file for an EAD to be able to get a SSN.... you can file for the EAD before you file for AOS and the EAD will be valid for the same amount of time as you have left on your K3 visa.... You will have to pay $340.00 and xomplete form I-765 or you can wait and file for AOS and the EAD is included with the price $1010.00
