I dont miss to much about Britain, when Im over in the US, but I do miss Frey Bentos pies.

I know there are stores in the US selling them at a cost, but I wouldn't mind bringing a few along with me from Britain when I go there, except I beleive it is illegal to import forgien meat.

Is it illegal to bring over such products for personal use, and has anyone brought such things like this across with them?

Gt.

Yes, which is why you will usually see my husband stuffing his gob with them for the entire flight back to the US.

US Customs Inspector will have them off you otherwise.

He's my proxy pooch, part time pooch, something like that, isn't he a sweetie!?

He sings, he dances AND he bows when he asks to go out.

Visit the US Customs website (cbp.gov) for info on what food products may be legally brought into the US. Meat is not one of them :(

Bleurgh :o have you seen the ingredients of one of those things? Don't they have a shelf life of about 20 years like Twinkies? I'm sure your heart is pretty relieved that you're not having them any more. Just pour 3 tablespoons of salt over some lumps masquerading itself as 'meat', add some brown salt water, sorry I mean gravy, and stodge disguising itself as pastry, and there you have your Fray Bentos pie :dead:

(All in jest of course :jest: but sorry, that is one thing I'm glad customs doesn't allow into the country ;))

Met the ole man in January 1998

Jan. 2004: K1 visa issued ~ April 2004: Got on a plane ~ Nov. 2004: GC in my mucky hands ~ Dec. 2006: Received 10 YR GC

September 2008 - US passport delivered!

Milk is a big thing for me as I am totally against homogonisation (It's all to do with supermarket distribution and shelf life, leaving the little bit of 'cream' on the top makes the product unstable! They do it in the UK these days too)

Anyway, here in CA, there's a store called Trader Joe's and they do a full cream, non homogonised organic version which is really good and much better for my son too. Mind you, you pay the price!
