We are approved and passed the 1st step for a K1 Visa.  My fiancé is in Colombia.  I have read mixed information.  Does she need to fill out the DS-160?  A friend said we need to complete the DS-160 before the interview for K1.  But our advisor in Colombia said the DS-160 is for tourist.  Any information or guidance will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,

Pete G.

Don't use that 'advisor' again! They're completely wrong, you do have to complete the DS-160 (it's for lots of different visas, not just tourist visas). Follow the guide at the top of the page.

Get rid of your "Advisor" in Columbia. The DS-160 is for any Non-Immigrant visa, which the K-1 is. It must be filled out before you can schedule an interview with the embassy
