Quick q about the passport photos - how recent do they have to be? From what I've seen on here, UK ones are fine so I was thinking of getting some taken at the store tonight. When I booked my medical, Knightsbridge told me UK or US are fine. So I'll have recent UK sized ones, but for peace of mind, I would like to take some of my US ones for good measure too.

I have all of my passport photos from January that I sent in with my original I-129F. Still have numerous US ones and 3 UK ones. How recent do they have to be for Knightsbridge, and I suppose, for the interview too? Would it be a problem if the same ones were used as the ones on my petition/police certificate?

Im sure i read on the embassy website they had to be less than 6 months old, which means the pics we got taken in January for our petition will be too old. So i will be getting new pics done to take with me to the medical

EDIT: Cant for the life of me find where i read that now though!

From what I remember reading about the photos, they have to be taken within the last 6 months. However, as long as you look like your photo, I can't see it matters how old they are. I think I used the same photos for the medical as I did for the PC.

The medical people don't care really about the date of the photo if it looks like you. How do they know when a photo was taken?

It is the embassy that says 6 months. My husband used his from the petition. The grumpy Asian document lady looked at him suspiciously and said "How old is this photo?" he answered "I don't remember...couple of month's." No further issue about it.

Queen--I've seen photos of you with really white hair and more golden blonde with chickenpox. Take a passport photo that looks most like you look now. If it is the one from the petition and still looks like you, it will be fine for the medical. At the medical they REALLY don't care what size you bring. It also doesn't have to be the same photo you take for the visa if they both look like you currently look.

Haha--that reminds me when I was trying to get in the embassy with my fiancé. I handed the guard my American passport. He looked back and forth from me to the passport several times. My passport photo had Big Texas Hair (as we call it) and a big smile. So seeing his hesitation, I offered "See it's really me...look at the smile. It's the same." He handed back my passport and indicated me to pass through the security hut. Then he said "By the way, your hair looks w-a-ay better now."

my fiance should have no such issues - he's had a shaved head for about 7 years now I think -- since about 25. :D I guess that's one benefit!

I had to renew my passport last October and I did the fast service at the Passport office. She looked at my old passport, my new photo and then back to me. I had lost 60 pounds and looked very different. I said `It's still me!' She said 'Yes, I can see that but you look very different' .

Interestingly, you are not allowed to smile for UK passport photos (big hair or no big hair!)

If it is the one from the petition and still looks like you, it will be fine for the medical. At the medical they REALLY don't care what size you bring. It also doesn't have to be the same photo you take for the visa if they both look like you currently look.

My hair is still the goldeny blonde colour, but my roots have grown out since the petition pics so it might be obvious that they're old. And I mean like, not had them done in 8 months worth of grow out. (Not vegetable patch hair as it blends in quite well, but still). I got some more taken at the store tonight in UK size and that should hopefully be good enough. Will just have to go to a photographer again for the US ones when I get an interview. (I miss my white hair, but it costed about £100 a month.. too expensive when saving to move to the US)

On a side note.. I can't help but being curious to see the Texas hair now :D
