Case status updates on USCIS…

Hello all,

 

just a quick (and may be a silly one) question on time line for case status with USCIS.

 

when you see “Estimated time until your case decision:” is updated; how you interpret the months shows? E.g., if “Estimated time until your case decision:“ shows 11 months, does it mean that 11 months are from the original receipt date? Or is it from the day the status was updated?

It doesn't mean much. E.g. don't trust it.

I can keep posting as I have many more examples.

 

My own N-400 was estimated 7 months, but completed in 3.5.

It also depends on what case you filed.

For spouse / parent it's 13-17 months from USCIS receiving case for I-130 to be approved.

For siblings, it can be 15-20 years.

Yep, so add 13-17 months from date on your I-130. That's a safe estimate.

Yep, ignore it completely. Recently my daughter's case said '16 months to decision' and that was the day before she got her decision. Then on the day she was approved, it jumped up to '27 months to decision'. 😂
