this is a rare visa when it comes to AOS but has anyone here gone through the process for this ? what was the process like ? I am trying my best to avoid having my spouse return to her home country to be able to file form i-566 which according to DOS she needs to leave the country to continue with that process , i have asked many lawyers and 99% do not know how to properly deal with this. I need help with this i really do not want my spouse to leave and have to wait months on end till she is allowed back. I am a US veteran and dont know how that would help my case .

the G5 is nonimmigrant same as tourist visa

You will follow the steps for her to AOS as now married to USC

The issue we are running into is that DOS states my spouse can not adjust status in the united states because of her G5 visa. as soon as she files the i-566 she will have to leave the US as it will pretty much void her visa. there has to be a other way around this
