@laser2222 thank you. This is very helpful! I have been trying to figure that part out for a while.  Was your green card still conditional at the time you filed, or had you already gone through the removal of conditions? 

 

Also, any chance you can send over a checklist of what you submitted? I know we need to submit a cover letter and a letter of intent to reside back in the U.S. at the completion of my tour overseas. I am confused on if we need to submit a DD form 1278 in addition to my orders (naming my spouse as a dependent). Did you have to submit a letter from your commander as well?

@laser2222 sorry, a few more questions... Where did you mail your fingerprint card and passport photos? What was the situation with getting a U.S. passport after your oath ceremony in Guam? Did you have to wait a while? Were you able to travel back to Japan on your old passport and get a new one at the Consulate in Tokyo?
