Passport style pictures

Hi, does anyone know if your ears need to be visible or not in the passport style pictures?

I'm aware, but it doesn't say whether you need to be able to show your ears or not. Where I'm from it's normal to do so, but I can't find any guidelines on it for US passport standards.

i don't believe there is a "need" no, but they are only visible really if you aren't wearing anything on your head, which is a requirement

the only time they would be covered would be because of the need to wear religious head wear

Ok, that makes sense. So your hair down or having bangs should be no problem then? May I ask what you did?

no it shouldn't be

my hair was just down, i took my picture myself at home lol

but i don't believe my ears were showing
