Hi all! I am from California, husband is from Mexico. Married in 2019 and started the paperwork. Covid threw a wrench in things and we had a baby as well. i601a approved February 2025 (there was a 44 month wait for that). We also had had to do an additional verification of a bonafide relationship probably due to us filing so quickly after we got married. Also almost got into the Parole in Place program (the one that got cancelled after a week) but submitted paperwork 2 hours late.

  1. Date you received notice from NVC that you are Documentarily Qualified (DQ'd) - June 18, 2025
  2. Date you received an interview assignment from NVC - Not yet received
  3. Date of your interview (if you have received an interview assignment)  - Not yet received

Finally almost there! Thanks to Josh and the team for this thread and the data! It has been really helpful.

ETA: It seems like the timelines have been speeding up a bit so nice to see that in graph form. @Josh B K For the recent approvals (since January), I'd be curious to know the data points exactly or the average days for just the 2026 approvals.

Hello Friend. The average wait time from Documentarily Qualified to an interview notification has been 380 days for those who received notifications in 2026.

Hello everyone,

Update to my previous post

  1. Date you received notice from NVC that you are Documentarily Qualified (DQ'd) - March 03, 2025
  2. Date you received an interview assignment from NVC - 03/13/2026
  3. Date of your interview (if you have received an interview assignment)  - 04/20/2026

I've run into a bit of a predicament however my friends, my "lawyer" has told me that my birth certificate is "not sufficient" for her interview and that it needs to be a "long form copy" for my mother. All i have and all my parents received at the time of my birth was a "certified transcirpt of birth" from the state of new york which does state my name, my parents names, the city and local registrar with a seal - would this not be sufficient ?? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

I'd reach out to your states department of state or vital records to see what you can get your hands on. They usually have expedited services for a fee.
