October 2024 Filed I-485 Stats

• Approved: 11,935 (+150)

• Denied 1373 (+5)

• Fingerprint Scheduled: 85 (0)

• Interview Cancelled: 387 (+1)

• Interview Scheduled: 10,317 (-179)

• Processing: 15,966 (+14)

• Received: 421 (0)

• Rejected: 96 (0)

 RFE: 522 (0)

• Terminated: 181 (+1)

• Withdrawal: 58 (0)

• Others: 9 (0)

Percentage of cases approved: 29%

Percentage of cases interview scheduled: 25%

Processing status rises?  What would cause that, at this stage? My guess is that it's a post-interview status for some people, either momentarily (it's early still) or to path them towards denial.

I think my previous theory on balancing the scales is out the window.  However, with a focus on how many approvals we're at, I'm going to hope that a new wave of interviews is set to be scheduled soon.  Other than November, I'm pausing to look at newer months.  It can be extremely disheartening and negative when one starts comparing.

In reading reports of interviews on some other sites, I do see that some report that their status changes back to “Case is being actively reviewed” if they received an RFE at the interview and they send in the requested evidence and some report it changes to that status if the review after the interview takes a while. (One example was someone who got interviewed and it took almost 4 weeks to get the approval)

That's right.

"Case is being actively reviewed" is a filler status between other statuses.

Sadly, that just confirms that they're not working to bring people out of processing and into interviews again.

Also remember that this past Monday was a holiday and lots of employees across the country plan vacations for the whole week or large part of a holiday week because they get a day that they don't have to use a vacation day. Some also use a few days before the weekend. I noticed less movement across November filers for the week and a cursory look back on the week for other months shows the same. In my company of roughly 100K employees, the weeks on either side of a holiday Monday results in a reduction of active workers by anywhere from 15%-28%. (I happen to know because I'm a manager and we have to track staffing levels to make sure we are in compliance with FCC regulations)

That's what I like about you E/J, your pragmatic approach.  The interview scheduled status has been in a negative dip since the 14th, which was 2 1/2 weeks ago.  That's a long haul.

Although I've been predicting June since we submitted the app back in October, I'm starting to lose hope that was accurate.  Jon's birthday is in June, it would be an amazing birthday gift just to get the interview scheduled.  Just putting that out there into the universe, hoping it catches. (L)

Don't lose hope 🥹 We know exactly how you feel... Honestly we thought we'd have it by now too but such is life. Des Moines has 16 months listed as their 80% completed by timeline which isn't too bad. Denver is currently running 20.5 months and we found some fellow Denver AOS filers on Reddit that are still waiting also and it looks like for our FO the average wait time between filing and interview is 9-12 months so we have a while to go now. We're hoping that with interviews being the norm now, they can get into a rhythm and streamline that a little. Someone that filed in Sept. 2024 just got their interview notice a couple weeks ago. They are 2 months prior to our file date so hopefully we'll get a notice in the next 4-6 weeks 🤞 Keep the head up and know that it will happen when it's supposed to happen :)

We applied on 10/17/24 for AOS immediate relative. The applicant is my mother-in-law who was on Ukrainian parole. Her status has been "under active review" ever since 10/19/24. No RFEs, biometrics waived, interview also shows as waived.

Unfortunately, effective 2/14/25, USCIS has placed an indefinite pause on any applications filed by parolees, including AOS and asylum. Hopefully her authorized stay remains in place for the duration, since she has no home left to go back to.

Parolees definitely require contingency plans.  Even a parent of a naturalized citizen will take some time to process AOS.  I wish you the best with that and advise you seek specialized help with a new thread so you can get the unique situation reviewed.

Hello hplusj,

I don't want you to lose hope. You  have to keep hope alive. You are one of the strongest people i know on  this forum. We have very similar timeline and i was hoping you would have had it by now, but you're almost there. I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. June is just starting and this could the Jon's birthday gift. You're almost there so be strong. You never can tell the best gift could be an interview waiver.
