Hello Everyone,

How long after packet 3 do you get packet 4? We got our packet 3 July 10, but unfortunately the consulate sent a wrong instruction.

That was when I was inquiring about the DS 260 and I 864. I knew something was off because we  couldn’t get a headway trying to fill the form.

I emailed the consulate and the right packet 3 was resent yesterday.

How long before they send packet 4 and who do they send it to?

Thank you.

Hi there!

I dont know how this goes exactly in South Africa, but for me 'Packet 4' was an E-mail to my personal e-mail address.

All it said was that i was approved to go ahead and schedule the appointment for my interview, which i had to do myself indeed.

Follow the intrusctions in packet 3 and packet 4 will follow later :)

For me the instructions were to file and submit form DS-160 and email the consulate the confirmation page. When i had done that, the 'Packet 4' e-mail followed 2 days later.

This may be different for you, as your operating consulate will be in south africa and mine was in Germany.

Though a lot of the process may be the same, Sometimes there are Consulate specific instructions.

Take your time reading Packet 3, and dont worry about the time. It will turn out to be enough to prepare!

i hope this helps :) Good Luck!

Hello there,

Thank you for your response.  That was my main concern.  Most of the timelines I see get their packet 4  either same day or next day.

The whole process with the packet 3 has been so confusing with the consulate sending a wrong instruction/ form which threw us off.

Just like you said, it is consulate dependent.  Visa fee has been paid we have scheduled the interview and medical for August.

Thanks again and congrats on your approval.
