Did anyone recently appear in their interview at U.S. Embassy, Dhaka, for IR1/CR1 visa? If so, how long did that take after getting documentarily qualified in NVC? Trying to get an estimation.

Hello! My DQ date is June 1st 2023. I’m waiting for an interview date as well from Dhaka US embassy. I wanted to know about other people on the same boat as me. I have been DQed for the past three months now. Its very frustrating to wait for interview for so long. Whereas other embassies aren’t taking this long. Just wanted to know about other people who are going through a similar situation.

My spouse got Documentarily Qualified on July 27th 2023. Wrote twice to US Embassy Dhaka. Reply from embassy was to a suggestion to contact NVC. When contacted NVC, text content of the reply was basically same as the original documentarily qualified email. Not sure if I can do anything to get any kind of tenative date. I could have planned around if I atleast knoew a probable date of interview. Non-immigrant visa types and some immigrant types has a bulleting board where they can at least view the current wait time. In IR1 category why we do not even have a wait time bulletin board, I just can't fathom that.

Hi. So I have been doing extensive research on all of this. DQ dates May 2023 got IL in Jan 2024 and interview dates in March 2024. DQ dates in June 2023 have gotten IL in Feb 2024 with interview dates in April. With the data I have collected in a small time I see that it takes about 7-9 months to get IL. Recently, it has been more 7-8 months. US embassy in Dhaka will contact NVC and say we have slots opens for these dates, then NVC goes ahead and sends emails to people. I believe nvc looks at both DQ dates and PD when determining who is next in line for an interview. Example being two people have DQ: Jan 2024, one has PD March 2022, and the other in Aug 2022. The earlier PD will get IL before the later PD.

In general the number of IR1 visa issuances (how many visa are being handed out) is getting better. In May 2023 133 visa were given to IR1 cases and lasted data on the NVC page shows in Jan 2024 189. If Dhaka continues at this rate, hopefully, the duration of getting IL will become shorter.
