So, my appointment was at 745am and after being given the wrong directions from a family member, I got there 1 hour late! Luckily, the nice officers at Houston were understanding and let me in, which was a pleasant surprise.

I got to the window and the officer there was very friendly. She told me the FBI name check had been holding things up and that was completed in March. She asked if I replied to the RFE in April/May, which I had. I also told her about the phone call I got earlier in the week from an officer in California asking for my I-94 to be faxed over. She said that was a good thing because someone is working on the case and called me instead of sending an RFE.

I asked if it's worth renewing my EAD (expires in October) and she suggested not to as the GC should arrive by then.

Sounds pretty positive. Thoughts?

If you job relies on it I would still apply for the EAD if you're getting close to 90 days before it expires. Just because that officer is positive doesn't guarantee that you'll get your GC before your EAD expires.

It sounds like they are working on your petition, hopefully it will be completed soon. Good luck If you need to work it might be a good idea to renew the EAD.
