I know this has been answered before, but I must ask again. My wife's travel agent continues to insist that she'll need a transit visa for the UK.. when her PIA flight will travel from islamabad to chicago and stopover briefly in manchester.

Every website I've checked states if you have a US entrance visa, you don't need a UK transit visa. I've asked her to talk to PIA directly and/or a different travel agent.

Unless, rules have recently changed, could someone confirm that they did not need one traveling through the UK to the US on a K3 visa?

Thank you very much and good luck everyone.

Well if this helps, when we travel from PIA, at Manchester you get a transit pass, for security check they look at your boaring pass and your Passport, if you have valid visa stamp you dont' have to worry.

I emailed the British High Commision in Islamabad and they said she will not need a transit visa, you can also email them at Cons.Islamabad@fco.gov.uk

Their Website also says:

You asked if a national of Pakistan needs a visa to pass through the UK in transit.

Yes, you need a Direct Airside Transit (DAT) visa, unless you hold one of the following:

# a valid visa for entry to Australia, Canada, New Zealand or the United States of America and a valid airline ticket for travel via the United Kingdom as part of a journey from another country or territory to the country in respect of which the visa is held;

# a valid visa for entry to Australia, Canada, New Zealand or the United States of America and a valid airline ticket for travel via the United Kingdom as part of a journey from the country in respect of which the visa is held to another country or territory;

# a valid airline ticket for travel via the United Kingdom as part of a journey from Australia, Canada, New Zealand or the United States of America to another country or territory, provided that the transit passenger does not seek to transit the United Kingdom on a date more than six months from the date on which he last entered Australia, Canada, New Zealand or the United States of America with a valid visa for entry to that country;

# a valid USA I-551 Permanent Resident Card issued on or after 21st April 1998;

# a valid Canadian Permanent Resident Card issued on or after 28th June 2002;

# a valid common format Category D visa for entry to an EEA State;

# a valid common format residence permit issued by an EEA State pursuant to Council Regulation (EC) No. 1030/2002;

A valid U.S. immigrant visa packet (form 155A/155B) is a 'valid visa' for DATV exemption purposes.

K3 packet is also called 155A

I emailed BHC in Islamabad about 2-3 weeks ago regarding this and according to them, no visa is required. I have posted the whole email reply earlier.

I received this today ...

------------------------

The visa petition you mentioned in your inquiry has recently been

forwarded to the US Embassy/Consulate General. Please allow 10-15

business days for the Embassy/Consulate General to receive the petition.

------------------------

... looks like my wife's IR-1 case is heading to Islamabad. A couple of related questions ...

What is the next step? Will the embassy call or send a postal mail? Is it sent via a courier service? What documents are needed for IR-1 cases?

She will get Packet 3 in the mail from AMEX Courier Services.

This is what packet 3.5 (CR-1) from the embassy asks for:

1- Ds-230 part 1 and part 2 (remember you sign part 1 but do not sign part 2, you sign it infront of the CO).

2- Orignal copy of Marriage certificate and translated copy (if marriage certificate was in Urdu).

3-Police Certificate.

4-Medical report (no X-rays reports).

5-Death or divorce certificate of previous marriage (this options only apply to Beneficiary).

6- If I-864 is not submitted at NVC, must turn it in with Packet 3.5

7- If I-864 submitted at NVC, then the beneficiary must write a 1 page letter stating that the petitioner has submitted the I-864 at the NVC.

8- 2 pictures.

9- orignal copy of Birth Certificate and translated copy (if orignal was in Urdu).

Hmm, DS-230 and I-864 were both submitted to NVC, so I trust the list above sans those two?

Any ideas when we should be expecting packet 3.5? Is the interview scheduled at the time of packet 3.5 as well?

Congratulations on this step completion -- your journey has been a long one. Your wife will get packet 3.5 and must submit it back to the consulate/embasy and then they will send her packet 4 which is actually a letter with her appointment date and time.

I made reservations to meet my husband to be, at peshawar airport in October. This will be my first time in Pakistan. I am wondering if anybody has been in this airport and if there were any problems that occured? I am alittle nervouse about it becouse this is only my second time that Ive been out of the country. He says I have nothing to worry about.

I'm filing K3 for my wife and also in the process of getting these forms ready to be sent out to my wife in Karachi. Does anyone know if I should fill out I-864 or I-134 for Affidavit of Support. A friend of of mine whose brother-in-law got interviewed in Islamabad send me a copy of the letter they sent him that letter asks for an I-134 only. I have read that for K3, only I-134 is required but I have read conflicting information from different sources.

If anyone can confirm whether I should fill out I-1864 or I-134, I'd appreciate it.

Khurram/Oasriz & Anyone else,

I may sound like a broken record, but I am going nuts trying to figure out if I should go or not. Tickets are very expensive (1,650) + other expenses while I am there. Everyone is advising to save my money and vacation time to enjoy with my wife here when she comes to the US. The confusion is that i've seen many women going on AP now. Some had said that it doesn't make a difference if i'm there. I somehow think that me being there will help. AM I allowed in the interview, maybe my case will be stronger????? Not to mention, I really miss my wife too.
