we got married happily at home with both parties agreeing , and our marriage certificates are issued to us by marriage registerar at courts who was our nikkah reader , Will NVC ask us for those original marriage papers? Can we get a certified copies of marriage certificate in Pakistan? If so how? My husband doesnt want to send them originals. Doesnt the embassy ask for originals at interview? We are applying for cr-1 visa. Thank you

Congratulations Pugsly,

We got married at home with family and guests present and had the Nikkah registered at the local mosque. Before I came back to the states he had two original certified copies one in English and one in Urdu (I made a copy in Urdu for my records stateside). He made an English copy and kept the original Urdu copy. When I filed the I-130 in the states I had to send them the English original and they sent it back to me. He took his Urdu copy when he interviewed. Hope this helps and mubarak on your marriage.

He always shipped TSC to me from Pakistan and it came via FEDEX on the US side. I suggest him making another copy so if he needed to get it replaced he could. We always had good results in the past and nothing was lost or damaged.

I also forgot to ask about birth certificate. My husband only has his original one in english, not urdue. Should he also send this original birth certificate of his to me? What will he show at the embassy if he does?

Pugsly,

He made a copy of his birth certificate and sent it with me when I filed. He needs to keep the original in Pakistan for when he goes for his interview. I sent the list below with our I-130.

Cover letter

Check for fees

My original birth certificate **

Original death certificate of my first husbnad **

If divorced you would need to send this info.

Copy of Mian's birth certificate

Original English marriage Nikkah**

Urdu copy of the Nikkah **

Mary G- 325A

Mian G-325A

Photos for the G-325A in a plastic ziploc bag with names written on back of photo

Airline ticket copies

Copy of my passport

A few wedding photos.

Hope this helps.

** Originals were returned after several weeks from USCIS service center **

Sallam Everybody,

I have an update! nothing great on my end but I think its good information to pass!

I called DOS yesterday (April 17) and they informed me that they are still working on the case for my Fiance. There is no time limit of course as we know and she said that some cases can be complete in as little as 4weeks! Which we know from VJ that some are done in even less time (3wks is the fastest I have seen).

I also told her that I travel for business quite often and if this would delay the Application and she said that they are done with me and I am all clear. They are now just looking into my Fiance and that I can travel for work as needed.

I then asked her if it would be alright for me to fly my fiance out to Kuala Lumpur to meet me so we can spend some time together and she told me that its best to leave her put. She didn't say if my fiance traveled it would cause delay or not but she said the best thing to do is just let her wait in pakistan.

Just FYI for my VJ friends!

Thanks for posting your information it now is confirmed from what I have been saying all along. Do not travel while in AP it only delays it.

Here's to hoping that her AP is almost done.
