Congratulations Ali and wishing your wife home soon.

Mary

Thanks. Just also wanted to add that my brothers wife had her interview on the 24th of march. She was given her visa right there and her visa arrived 2 days after her interview.. So if you are really really lucky you can get ur visa the day of your interview.

Congrate to you and your bhabi. I have a question that did she ever traveled to US before or got visa to US previously?

I dont think there is a way to find out common names.. i guess if you hear a name a lot consider it common..But as far as your sister getting her visa without AP.. i think 2 yeara ago was a totally different playing feild .. where very few ladies were given AP..

Hi have a question for everyone,

Since my husband has to fly out from Abu Dhabi to ISb to pick up his visa it states in the email from ISb to "visit our office on any working Monday between 8:00am to 10:00am."

Now has any one ever gone to the embassy to pick their visa? how was the line? the wait? and their expierence? Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in Advance

Yes two years ago there were different checks in place. Now the ladies and their families are being checked more closely for something called Material Support. Basically it is to make sure that they are not supporting any terrorist organizations with funding and this is what has been affecting the ladies cases since it did not go into effect until last fall. Material support makes sure no funds are going into the wrong hands and it could be by giving to charity organizations that are fronts for Al Quaida, etc. The Red Cross brought up issues with this last year especially as it will affect widows from Ameriasia and other countries and they expected it to slow down their processing.

 Congratulations, Fareash

I am so happy to finally read that your husband will have his visa in hand soon. When Mian had to go back to the embassy for his passport stamp it was business as usual. Long lines and having to wait in line for his turn. Your husband must have the email that tells him the days and times to come back since they will not allow him in the grounds without proof of being asked to return. Tell him to expect the longer wait but maybe he will not have to stay too long. Mian was there for several hours. Good luck on getting him home to you soon.

Hey there, I've been speaking to a few contacts within the system, and the AP has little to nothing to do with the petitioner...so if you've traveled that is something that would have been looked into during your initional petitioning....they do an FBI check and all that on the state side before they allow you to apply. Also, as far as who got visas in the past and how and all that.....I have learned NEVER expect one situtation to be the same as another, especially now days. My brother in law went to the U.S. on a Fiance' visa in FOUR months from start to finish back in 01....my husband and I have been trying for well over a year now and we're just barely there....(and I'm a U.S. born gori, my brother in laws fiance was a Pakistani immigrant). My point...the world and the policies are changing min by min and there's just never a way to know. I'm not saying these threads aren't helpful, they are for sure,,,,but just be cautious and patient. CONGRATS to everyone who has gotten through and even more for those who have quickly.....and for the rest of us....I pray daily God grants me patience and understanding....because I myself don't have it.

Best of luck!
