Thanks for the reply Gohar, it's true that K1 people have to send the packet, but some K3 people had to take it with them in the past. So, I am wondering has the procedure changed with the new year or what? If some K3 people who had experience with this matter, please reply

Hi Gohar,

This question is for you. I just received packet 3.5 from ISL for K-1

Two Forms DS-156 (Should I answer all questions and sign it?)

One Form DS-230 Part I (Should I answer all questions in part 1 only and do I need to sign all of it?)

One Form DS-156K (Should I sign this after answering the questions?)

Which of these documents I need to mail and which ones I need to take with me for the interview.

What other documents I need to send them besides these ones?

Thanks in advance.

Hi taufik hidayat,

Congrat's on receiving Pkt 3.5!! Just a reminder, be sure your packet is 100% correct because this packet sets your interview date!! Also, you need to send in the original forms and 1 copy of the forms to the Embassy. Also make 2 copies of EVERYTHING you send to them (one for you and one for spouse).

DS-156 -- YES!! Answer ALL questions 1-41. If the questions do not pertain to you put "N/A" or if there is no answer put "NONE". Do not leave any box with a number beside it blank because they may think you over looked it. here are some of the answers to some of the tricky/not straight forward questions.

Question: 22. Answer: When Visa is Granted

26. Answer: Permanently

27. Answer: Marriage and Relocation to the US

32. Answer: With work Authorization, Employer Unknown

DS-230 Part 1 -- YES! Answer ALL questions in PART 1 ONLY! Do not write ANYTHING in PART II. ONLY Part 1. You DO have to sign Part 1 on the second page at the bottom where it asks. These questions are pretty easy, just, biography stuff. You should have all this information already in your original I-129F packet you sent first.

DS-156k -- NO!! DO NOT SIGN THIS! Do NOT write BELOW the LINE!!! You willhave to sign infront of the officer according to the directions. Make sure you have all the proper documents they have requested attached.

You need to mail EACH of these ORIGINAL documents IN AND 1 COPY of EACH DOCUMENT! Thats what our directions said a month and a half ago and I'm assuming yours will be the same.

(US CITIZEN has to get this informtion on there behalf)

I-134, Affidavit of Support -- With ALL supporting documents..... Statement FROM Bank, on Bank Letter Head., Statement from Employer on Business Stationary, IRS Tax Returns, Fiance Letter of Intent (Same as before but date will change), Cover Letter for the I-134 (I had it to be thorough).

I also, submitted addional proof of relationship.

I think that is about it, a lot of this information is also available in the GUIDES TAB at the TOP! Check the K1 guides and you will find additonal info!

Make sure you keep COPIES of EVERYTHING you SUBMIT!! VERY IMPORTANT!

Best of Luck!

Gohar

Gohar,

Thanks for the detailed description of the packet 3.5. Question about the I-134 cover letter, what did you mean by the cover letter for I-134. I am assuming you meant list of document included with the form. Please comment..

1 Letter from employer

2 Copies of pay stub

3 Letter from Bank

4 Copies of Bank statements

5 Tax retrun or tax trasncript

Tareq,

Can you please update you timeline.

Thank you,

Sky2k, my timeline is already updated. My case is currently at NVC. They say they should be forwarding it to the embassy anywhere from 1 to 4 weeks. At one point they said it's in Admin Processing. I am just waiting for them to tell me that they have forwarded my case to the embassy.

Was anyone else here told by NVC (before the case even got to the embassy) that their case is undergoing Administrative Processing? I thought this was done AFTER the interview.

I am not talking about the timeline in your every post. I am talking about the timeline that is part of the timeline of the forum. Below is your timeline link. I hope this clears the confusion. I really appreciated you posting your timeline in every post, but three months from now it would be difficult to find it.

Thanks.

Sky2k -- By the cover letter, I meant the cover letter for the I-134 only. I had a cover letter for this because I sent this information to my fiancee shortly after receiving my NOA2, and I just did it to be thorough because I had done it for I-129F Application. Its not necessary but I dont think it can hurt.

taufik hidayat -- By 100% being correct, I mean that if something is wrong they will request more information from you and if this happens you will not get an interview date 'til Packet 3.5 is 100% complete. At this point they will send you Packet 4 which consists of your Medical (which will be in ISL) and have to obtain a Police Background check and of course the Interview date. Its best to make sure you have ALL the information for Pkt 3.5 when submitting it back to the Embssy. I'm not sure how picky they are with the information like USCIS is. My first submission was good enough for them.

goodluck

Not sure where you are located but it takes about 3 to 4 days to get to Lahore. Our Pkt 3.5 was delivered to us. I can't recall the courier but I'll ask my fiancee tomorrow when she gets up!

You should have received a phone call from them?? They came to my Fiancee's house at around 8am!

As-Salam Alykum

Does anyone know if the Embassy allows the Petitioner to be with the benefactor during the interview?

Not a good idea. My lawer clearly said to me not to go with my wife for interview.

According to I-134 (Affidavit of Support) petitioner's domicile should be in US. If

you are going with her in this is the voilation of that rule.

In past this has happened with few people, that told petationor to go back to States. report to local

USCIS Office then we will re-schedule. if you want to go then don't go inside the embassy. Stay out side ;)

to hear happy news :)

Yes you need to mail all the forms and other required documents including pictures/old passport/bank statements/police clearance etc. There is a big list of things needed to be sent (both orignal and one copy of each).

Also make 2 copies of each document that you are sending (one for you and one for your spouse)

......

tyousuf,

Can you please include the complete list of documents that they asked you to send with packet 3.5? I just want to make sure if they have changed or added something that I should get ready for. Also, did they ask for an I-134 Form or an I-864 for Affidavit of Support? I am fairly sure that for a K3 (non-immigrant visa), they need I-134 only but want to check to make sure since they keep changing policies.

Thanks in advance!

Here is the complete list of documents and Items that I sent for K3. For K1 list is pretty much the same but the difference is DS-156K is mendatory.

List of documents that I sent:

Completed Forms:

• Two Forms DS-156

• Form DS-157

• Form DS-230 (Part I)

• Form I -134 (Affidavit Of Support)

Other Completed Forms: (In case if needed)

• Form DS-156K (They did not asked it but my lawyer still asked me to sent it)

• Form DS-230(Part II) (They did not asked it but my lawyer still asked me to sent it)

• Applicant’s Parents Information. (This is new requirement)

• G-28 (Notice of Entry Of appearance as Attorney or Representative). (If any)

• Packet 3.5 cover latter with husband’s email address.

Educational and Professional Records (Original & Copies):

• Applicant’s Mark Sheets of Secondary & Higher School Certificate

• Applicant’s any other qualification ( Diploma / Vocational Training)

• Applicant’s job / Experience latter (If any)

Personal and Proof of Relationship Documents:

• Applicant’s Birth Certificate (Original, English Translation & Copy Of Each)

• Marriage Certificate (Original, English Translation & Copy)

• Applicant’s Police Clearance Certificate (Original & Copy)

• Applicant’s Two Photographs ( should be according to the specificaton)

• Phone Bills ( Important for K1 not very much for K3, they rarely check it on interview time)

• Wedding, Engagement and Honeymoon Photographs. (Very Very Very Important to Send)

• Petitioner’s Old Passport. (They check it to see that proof of if you really arrive pakistan on your wedding).

Proof of Financial Support:

• Copies Of The Sponsors Federal Tax Return “1040” (3 years)

• Petitioner’s Letter from Employer.

• Petitioner’s Pay Slips. (At least 1-2 months)

• Petitioner’s / Applicant’s USA / Pakistan Bank Statements (Preferred US Banks and pakistan joint account)

• Proof of Money Sending (Online remittance reports from United bank New York).

I hope this information will help.

We got interview latter in mail today. They verified and returend all the orignal/copies of documents to us.

What they Kept is following:

• Two Forms DS-156

• Form DS-157

• Form DS-230 (Part I)

• Form I -134 (Affidavit Of Support)

• Only year 2006 Tax Returns.

Amex Instructed that applicant should carry all of these returend documents (Orignal/Copy)

to interview. In latter they also asked for additional proof of relationship. My plan is to send

our wedding movie.

• Two Forms DS-156

• Form DS-157

• Form DS-230 (Part I)

• Form I -134 (Affidavit Of Support)

• Form DS-230(Part II) (They did not asked it but my lawyer still asked me to sent it)

• Applicant’s Parents Information. (This is new requirement)

• G-28 (Notice of Entry Of appearance as Attorney or Representative). (If any)

• Petitioner’s Pay Slips. (At least 1-2 months)
