OCI renewal process due to new US passport

My OCI was first issued when I was over 50 years old. Recently, I renewed my US passport, so I am trying to renew the OCI.

I followed the direction from VFS Global site which directed me to OCI India site. I filled-out Part A and B, and uploaded all requested documents. I forgot to print or save the application.

After about 2 months or so later, I received an email which contained my MHA file no. and further stating that updated details including my new passport number has been on the record. After this step, I understand that I need to finish up to complete Mail-in application and pay fees to VFS. I am kind of stuck at this step. From here, I do not know what to do next.  I went to VFS global site and created the profile. After that,  I logged in and then tried to create New Application, and then add customer.

At this point, it is asking me the OCI Govt Reference number. When I put this number from the email I received from OCI India, the VFS Global site shows an error. I can not go past this.

 

Can anyone help me what to do next?

If your OCI was issued after you turned 50 then you don't need to renew it.
