7 Months absence after GC activation due to degree?

Hi folks,

I have an Immigrant Visa expiring in February 2022 (DV) which I have not yet activated. I am currently in the middle of my final year of obtaining my university degree (currently living abroad) and are looking for some advice.

I was eyeing to activate my LPR status in mid/late November and leave December, which would mean I'd need to be absent from the US for ~7 months to successfully complete my education the next summer and be able to move.

Do you have any experience if this is usually OK, or would you recommend me to wait with activating my visa as much as possible instead and try to stay under the 6 month mark for my return?

I have read that trips up to 1 year is OK and some say you generally have leeway when first relocating to the states, but I have also read that it's recommended to stay under the 6 month mark if possible, so just looking for some advice of what you believe is the most sensible approach in this scenario. Thank you.
