Timeline

Hello, I haven't posted here in awhile so I'm unsure if my timeline is complete. My wife (Canadian citizen) and I applied for her I-751 in March of 2019. It has been ready to schedule for an interview since March of 2020. She applied for naturalization on March 29th 2021, and on April 9th (super fast!) we got the notification that her interviews for both I-751 and N-400 were scheduled.

We got the notices in the mail today, and her N-400 interview is May 25th...and the I-751 one is May 28th! I am so confused, I thought it would be a combo interview on the same day; I also thought I-751 HAD to be approved before they would do the N-400 interview. I called USCIS tonight two different times and spoke to two different officers. The first said simply they will not do a combo interview and that it's fine to have the I-751 interview be a few days later; the other said the officer MIGHT do a combo interview on May 25th but it is up to officer discretion.

Anybody have a similar experience? I just don't understand why they can't do them both in the same day.
