Is there a way to check someone else’s immigration paperwork status without receipt number

I don’t know if it’s possible but basically my husband has only been in the U.S for three months he has two children from a previous relationship. The children’s grandfather (their mothers dad) is a perm resident (in a different state) and has started paperwork about 2 years ago or more to bring the children and their mom from nicaragua. According to the daughter they got word that things should be wrapping up for them this year. We don’t have a relationship at all with the mother and her family she’s been pretty problematic for years but my husband would like to know if it’s true if his kids are almost approved because if not he’d like to start preparing paperwork himself. Is there anyway to find out without knowing the receipt number?

Well, if the children are derivatives on their mom’s petition as it sounds like from what you said, then it is actually her case not theirs and I can’t see that you have any right to be able to look up her case.

Also, unless the mom is still under 21, 2 years is way too fast for this to happen. And if the kids are minors and in her custody your husband would need to be able to talk to her and get her permission for the kids to get visas anyway even if he petitions them. So no matter which way this is going he needs to be able to talk to them.

Yeah you’re right its been more than 2 years I can’t remember how long exactly  and he had given a permission before maybe about a year ago so they can cont. with the process since her family already started and he wasn’t here yet I guess all we can do is wait thank you
