My wife's AOS interview has been scheduled (we are waiting for the letter that gives us the exact date) and in the lead up we have scheduled her medical exam required for the I-693 form. We have that scheduled for December 21 and we were informed we need to bring the I-693 form as well as a record of her immunizations to the appointment.

Since setting up the appointment on Tuesday, we have been attempting to contact her GP and NHS to try to get ahold of her immunization records. In hind sight, we should have realized when she decided to adjust status that we should reach out about the immunization records, but it did not occur to us until it was mentioned on Tuesday. Unfortunately, we have gotten runaround by her GP (including getting an incorrect email address when her mom elaborated to the GP that my wife could not contact them in-person) and a representative at NHS alerted us that the records are likely destroyed due to how the NHS handles older records once a person turns 25.

We are going to contact the medical center in the US about this issue as it seems likely we will not be able to get records of her immunizations. However, I am reaching out here because I am wondering how this has been handled in the past.

Given this policy by the NHS, it seems likely we would not be the only ones to have run into this issue. If she has no immunization records, how will that affect the medical exam and adjustment of status? She does have the immunizations, but it seems unlikely she will be able to prove that via documentation.

If she has no immunization records, the Civil Surgeon will likely make her either get the required shots or run antibody tests. You will have to pay for it if it's not covered by insurance. You can probably go to a CVS/Walgreens and get many of the shots for cheaper (and they may work better with insurance so you may get some of them covered).

In my case, I had a similar issue but at a smaller scale: while I managed to get an official translation of my immunization record and brought it to the medical appointment, I noticed I never got the chickenpox (varicella) immunization, because I got the disease as a child (and you become immune after contracting it). There was no official record of me contracting the disease anywhere because my pediatrician at the time passed away some years ago and the office closed down. The Civil Surgeon told me he believed me but it's his signature on an official document blablabla so he told me I would either get the shot or antibody test. He told me the shot was quicker and cheaper (can do it on the spot and he can sign the document on the spot), so I just ended up paying for it and getting it during the appointment.

Thank you!

We contacted the civil surgeon's office and they said that worst case scenario she would have to get the shots again to have the record of vaccinations. It is annoying and could be a bit costly, but it is far better than it could have been.
