Hi all,

I recently became naturalized, but had to travel to the UK for a few months. While here I'm applying for my first U.S. passport at the embassy so that I can travel back to America. I was told it should take between 2-4 weeks. However, After 10 days, i've been looking on the state.gov passport website to check on its status but it says 'application not found'. I tried phoning the hotline and they said if the application is done overseas at am embassy they can't give me an update. Has anyone else applied this way? How long does it typically take?

  • 3 weeks later...

Just as an update I received my passport yesterday. So it took around 24 days. Might have been quicker if not for lockdown in the UK.
