Hi there,

I am a US citizen and my fiancé is from Australia. She came here on a Esta/vwp and she has been here for almost 2 months now. And we have decided to get married with them reopening the marriage licenses in California. We tried to get help through the military but the person that works for them is extremely unpleasant and didn’t want to help us. Can anyone out there give us some insight and tips please on what to do and how to do it? We are thinking about getting an attorney but that is rather expensive

Thank you

Most here in the vj site have successfully done it all ourselves without lawyers. There is a forum here for military related issues .. so take a read through that .. and also a section on the USCIS website for military .. but my understanding is that is mostly referring to deployments overseas etc and special arrangements for families because of that.
You can marry and apply for AOS ... follow the guide on this website for step by step guide .. you need to be aware of travel and work restrictions for 5-7 months until she receives her employment and travel authorisations .. get her signed onto your health insurance ASAP after marrying ..
