Hello everyone! I am new to this forum. I would have a quick inquiry. I wonder if there is anyone submitting their documents to DOS for J1 waiver on the basis of NOS in May-June who has been granted FR by DOS.

I sent my documents to DOS in late May. My Embassy sent their NOS letter to DOS in early June. It has been 5 months and my case is still pending with DOS. They have not even updated the status of my NOS as "received" in their system despite several reminder emails I sent them in this regard. Could you please advise?

Hi.

hmm have you tried to attach the NOS letter you received from your embassy ( not sure if you received one) and ask politely to check if they received the NOS and say to them you are attaching in case it helps.
Not sure if this will help but doesn’t hurt to try.

Hi @H.O.M do you know which office?

When I checked soon after receiving my receipt number from USCIS, their website showed my case was sent to another USCIS office. My case was approved in the next 2 days.

The final approval notice from USCIS, which I received 3 days after my case was approved, has a Vermont address.

Hello!

My 212e Waiver journey - based on "government funding" seems to be coming to an end!

I truly hope the waiver division has catched up on the COVID back lash for all the new applications.

I sent my documents in the first week of October 2021 with 2 years left on my J1.

Now still 10 months left to move to H1B in academia.

I only quoted my full name, date of birth, case number, waiver category (NOS) and then reason for contacting them. Also I indicated my case number and waiver category as the subject of the email.

I submitted my application on June 30th. Everything was updated on the DOS website as at July 7th, except NOS. I contacted them in August for the NOS and they uploaded it and backdated it to July 6th. The waiver is still pending. This week would make it 10th week and I hope I get FR soon.

Hello MpetN .   Did you get any update on your case?

Yes. Following is my timeline:

Documents sent to DOS: Late May, 2022

All documents but NOS reflected as received in DOS' system: June, 6 2022

NOS sent by Embassy: June, 16 2022

NOS reflected as received in DOS' system (with receipt date appearing as 'June, 16 2022') after several emails I sent to DOS: November, 7 2022

A Congressman's Office submitted an inquiry into my case (It took 3 weeks for them to make their inquiry from the time I first contacted them): November, 13 2022

'Favorable Recommendation' granted by DOS (I did not receive a hard copy of their verdict): November, 16 2022

USCIS received my case I-612: November, 23 2022

USCIS approved my case I-612: December, 13 2022

I wish everyone good luck! The entire process took 6-6.5 months in my case.
