Ok here is the deal.

I want to get a K-1 visa for my finance. I read alot and I know I have to fill out the I-129F form and (2) G-325a form to get started. So I was wondering that if i filled out the form today it should take 9 - 12 months for my finance to get a K-1 visa. (if everything goes well) So I was thinking that I fill out the form and if I could take off to the country where my finance lives and hang out there and if I could do the paperwork from there?

I just want to know how much does it cost in the end to get the K-1 visa? Is it only $170 usd?

For filing for a K-1 visa do you need to provide income status? I make more the 20,000 a year if this information is necessary.

Also can you get a K-1 visa if you have bad credit?

Last question...in the form I-129F in page 1 under line 11 where it ask you if you ever filed for this or any other alien finance before. I did about maybe 4 years ago but not a K-1 form. Never did finish the paperwork due to my pioir finance (different person) never went for the interview. Should i fill out "yes" or just leave it no.

Thanks.

Some do this if they can afford it, you probably will need a co-sponsor to show that the K-1 will be supported when entering the USA

Yes initially, then there will be a fee paid to the consulate, and fee paid for medical, then airfare to get k-1 back to USA, and also fees to adjust status after marriage ($1010 by the time you will do this), and later on fees to lift conditions, and so on. THIS IS NOT A CHEAP UNDERTAKING be prepared to spend several thousands of $$$

NO, this will be needed later for the visa interview at the consulate.

YES, USCIS and Consulates are not concerned about your credit history.

Not following this, how do you not file for a K-1 for a previous fiancee? What visa was filed for?

I don't know. I gave all paperwork to a lawyer and he filed everything for me. I think it was for a spouse visa. Something that i had to give my tax returns and showed income. Thank you for your fast response.

It won't have been a spouse visa unless you were married to her - a K1 sounds most likely, unless the lawyer had no idea what he was doing. Is there any way you can find out what it was that you filed?

2005 - We met

2006 - Filed I-129F

2007 - K-1 issued, moved to US, completed AOS (a busy year, immigration-wise)

2009 - Conditions lifted

2010 - Will be naturalising. Buh-bye, USCIS! smile.png

I will call him today. It does sound like a K-1 that he filed. It took around 9 months and the interview. But she never went. I was wondering now 4 years past wanting to do the same thing that the previous K-1 visa might be a problem. Before i paid around 2000 for everything. Is this the quickest way? And should i continue with the Immigration attorney or should I do it myself?
