Hey guys,

I agree to all of you waiting for packet 4..its been a long wait(2weeks and still waiting) just wondering if someone can lead me on this...I am going to be out of the country for a month or so and was wondering if my P4 arrives when I m not around.. would it be possible for me to call up the embassy to know my interview date over the phone so I can come back a couple of days before my interview..and does one need to go for the interview with the letter.

Yes you have to show your interview letter at the gate before they let you in:)

INQUIRING ABOUT CASE NUMBER:

NVC Info (to find out when your case arrives/leaves there and to get NVC Case number):

Call (603) 334-0700 - press "1" for English then "5" to speak to a rep on the phone. Be ready with USCIS case number, beneficiary name and birthdate. K1 visas are NOT entered into the automatic system. Reps are available 7:30 AM - 12 midnight Eastern time. Call right after they open or right before they close for best results - during the day lines are always busy.

They'll ask for:

WACxxxxxxxxxx

Beneficiary's name

DOB x/xx/xxxx

And you can get from them the State Department case number:

LND xxxxxxxxxx

London Embassy:

The State Department is on 1 202 663 1225 then press 1,0,0 to talk to someone

They can tell you whether the Embassy has put the file on the system, saves you calling the premium rate line in London to ask!!

Open now...call away!

Sounds like scheduling is afoot . . . . argh - happy for those with dates, getting anxious for ours! Er, continuing to be anxious for ours.

Psho - I think they are scheduling better than that. I'll go with the explanation that, though the immigrant visa unit does process the Ks, they are non-immigrant visas. There, that's eased my mind :)

Plus, 2 people so far who have mailed back their packet 3s on May 29 have July interview dates - so that's promising!

Jennymc11 - congrats!!!!! You'r the second May 29-er I've seen with a date. Gives me hope!

Well, I suppose I shouldn't complain too much if there's still someone who sent back material on May 3 without a date - but maybe I can be crabby for us both? Has Disco posted lately? Is there an unrecorded update, perhaps?

I'm hoping our p4 wait doesn't start to mirror those extra NOA2 waiting days. I don't want to be above average!

I didn't get a chance to place my usual afternoon call, but we did try an email today as well. So we'll see. I may have Tim re-send everything too, with an explanatory cover letter, before he leaves town for the weekend.

The only thing I can think why Rob and I have our interviews is we both put a wedding date down. They put late July and we put middle of August down. Other than that, it makes no sense why so many people with NOA2 and packet 3 dates before us dont have interview dates.

I think my fiance opted for the "ASAP" route - which wasn't necessarily my choice. If we re-send, I may have him clarify.

I also included a letter, though, explaining some of our religious needs for getting this show on the road (like a very long wait until we can be married in the church, and my inability to practice my religion fully until we complete that process, etc). But since I'm not sure anyone has opened our returned packet 3, who knows if it's been read or whether it makes any difference.

See I was thinking of sending an email to the embassy in the next day or two just explaining the fact that we (ignorant to the details of the visa process, before we found VJ, etc., etc.) have already planned on a wedding date: ordered invitations, put deposits on vendors, so on. Basically asking if there is anything that we can do to make the process go more smoothly and requesting any assistant available in getting an earlier interview.

When's your date? I think you said, but I can't remember.

You're at NVC now, right? Give it a few days until it gets to London and then be ready to jump into gear! Keep calling NVC to try to catch it as it leaves. Then start calling the State Department to see when you're in the system. As soon as you are sure they have you in there, I would send them packet 3. As soon as you have your State Dept case number and you're in the system, there aren't any specialized forms or person-specific documents you need to wait for. Pull the cord! Go go! If we had it to do again, that's what I'd have done. Others may disagree, but all you're doing is printing out forms from online and sending in a xerox sheet you fill out.

Include your actual wedding date on the checklist form where they ask for it and include a cover letter if you want explaining your wedding date and your appreciation for their attention to your materials.
