K1 Visa interview info + deadline extension

4 posts in this topic

My fiance and I were notified that our package was sent to the embassy in Guangzhou, China. I heard that they are supposed to email the beneficiary with a PDF containing instructions on how to prepare and schedule for the interview. However, I don't recall ever entering my fiance's email address and the only form filled out so far is the i-129F. It only has a place to enter an email address for the petitioner.

I'm also trying to get in touch with someone at the embassy to ask for an extension of the deadline. Tried calling but they said to go to their website and ask online. I didn't see any email address and their contact form (IV inquiry page) is a broken link.

My questions:

1) I'm wondering how they are supposed to email my fiance and how long it usually takes for them to do this. NVC notified us that our application has been forwarded to the embassy on April 25th, 2019.
2) Any ideas on how to get an extension? Our deadline (from the date of USCIS approval) is July 24th, 2019.

The beneficiary is asked for email address on DS-160, Application for Nonresident Visa.

1) I'm wondering how they are supposed to email my fiance and how long it usually takes for them to do this. NVC notified us that our application has been forwarded to the embassy on April 25th, 2019. Petitioner can be initially notified by mail, then above email. Check VJ K1 Flowchart for more info:https://www.visajourney.com/content/k1flow/ , read forum postings.
2) Any ideas on how to get an extension? Our deadline (from the date of USCIS approval) is July 24th, 2019.See DOS link: https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/immigrate/family-immigration/nonimmigrant-visa-for-a-fiance-k-1.html#11

:time:It helps everyone that uses the VJ forum. Additionally, the info gives relevance to the VJ stats.

Good luck on your immigration journey.

Thank you! This is super helpful!

You are welcome.

My family went through the GUZ consulate a few years ago..... the old consulate building. I understand that the new digs are pretty good. Nice place to visit, a bit too hot and humid when we were there in June 2012 for the visa interview.

FYI: The US Consulate in Guangzhou (Canton) has played a part in our country's history for quite some time, https://china.usembassy-china.org.cn/embassy-consulates/guangzhou/consulate-guangzhou-history/

Good luck on your immigration journey.
