Hello everyone,

Here are the facts on my case.

  • Applying for Naturalization.
  • I've been a LPR since April 2011.
  • I was living in the US from age 15 to 26 but was already 27 years old when I became LPR.
  • I did not register for the Selective Service because I was unaware of such requirement.
  • I am 34 years old.

My questions are:

  1. On the online application there is a question that reads "Why did you not register with the Selective Service?"
Should I provide a short sentence like "I was unaware of such requirement"? or should I be more detailed ? Are they expecting an essay type of response or a two liner is okay?

  2. Under the Evidence > Additional evidence section of the online application it reads:
    Quote

    Evidence of Selective Service status

Upload a typed or printed statement explaining why you did not register for the Selective Service, as well as a status information letter from the Selective Service.

For more information about Selective Service registration or how to get proof that you registered, visit sss.gov or call 1-888-655-1825.

When I go to the Selective service website I get a contradictory statement.
    From https://www.sss.gov/Registration/Immigrants-and-Dual-Nationals

    Quote

    Immigrant Men 31 or Older

Immigrant men who are 31 or older who are seeking naturalization and who did not register are no longer required to provide a "status information letter" or documentation of their status from Selective Service.  If asked for a status information letter, these men may print a form letter concerning their request for a letter for use with USCIS HERE.

Should I attach on the online application the PDF file the statement above points to?
    https://www.sss.gov/LinkClick.aspx?fileticket=0Ky-rgZai_Y%3d&portalid=0

Should I also attach a PDF version of my answer to question 1 of this post?

Thank you for help.

Thank you for help.

Can I ask what you did? And also what the status of your naturalization process is? Thank you!
