My fiance will be coming to stay with me in the U.S. in two weeks and will remain here until the interview  ...question is, can he get his medical say as late as the day before the interview and just bring the results to the interview or does the medical need to be farther in advance from the interview date?

The results from the medical take approximately 4 days to get to the Embassy. If he chooses to have the medical, then interview on consecutive days it will just take a bit longer to get the Visa issued, as it will be pending the results of the medical.

Yes, he can get the medical without the interview date. Have him call today (er, tomorrow?). My fiance called this morning and is scheduled for a week from tomorrow.

I can send you a high-res scan of the form if you don't have packet 3 yet. (I think I remember reading here how people have forgotten forms anyway).

Call the State Dept to make sure/see if you're in the Embassy's system yet. You should be fine. You have your LND #, right?

(Packet 3 asks when you have scheduled the medical anwyay. Don't go by the old packet 3 and 4 scans in the gallery here that imply the medical instructions come with packet 4. they don't anymore!)

p.s. as mentioned above, the results get over to the interview rather quickly. the only problem people have ever brought up here is whether medical results might arrive with no file to go with them. call the State Dept to check on your status. I'd be surprised if packet 3 weren't on its way to you already:

London Embassy:

The State Department is on 001 202 663 1225 then press 1,0,0 to talk to someone

They can tell you whether the Embassy has put the file on the system, saves you calling the premium rate line in London to ask!!

As mentioned before, the medical results take 4 days to get to the Embassy. If your interview is the day after your medical you will only be granted the visa pending the medical results being all okay.

This will add, approximately, a week onto your waiting period for the visa to be issued. So, rather than 2-5 days (on average) you would be possibly looking at around 2 weeks.
