N400 Prior Spouse Question

I am filling out my N400 based on marriage, and I am confused about the question that pertains to my husband's former spouse. It asks "What is your current spouse's prior spouse's legal name?" I want to clarify what this means. Is it:

- Her legal name before her marriage to my husband (maiden name)

- Her legal name after she married my husband (which is the one that appears on the divorce judgment)

- Her legal name now (she has remarried and goes by her new husband's last name, though I would have to ask her whether she has actually changed it legally -- I'd rather avoid that conversation if possible!)

Does anyone have any insight into this? Thanks!

IMO any of those are fine, but I would use the name at the time of the divorce, to match the divorce certificate, which is the one document USCIS requires.

You are not supposed/expected to know further life history of any of the ex-spouses, past the point of divorce with your current spouse.
