Hey guys,

I was hoping that someone who has transported their dog from the UK to the US could help me out!

Cunard's has requested that we provide a form of Health Certificate for our dog. I have included the information we have received from them below.

My veterinarian said he's happy to provide any evidence, but admittedly has never had to produce such a document.

Has anyone had experience with obtaining a document like this? Is it enough for my veterinarian to write a letter which contains all the required information and sign it?

Thank you so much in advance, I've really been stressing about this so much 😭

Pretty certain it’s just a letter from the vet. My vet did one when I flew with my dog in 2017 - but you could always call Cunard to check (their kennel line are really helpful).

What date are you sailing?

Thaank you! I ended up calling Cunard and just like yourself, they confirmed that a letter is adequate. 😊

My fiancée is taking her in 2 weeks (28th April), otherwise we would have been forced to wait until April 2020 - which was a little too long haha.

Tell me about it! I booked in summer last year for the first available one they had (19th November 2019)...your fiancée must’ve grabbed a cancellation! 🙃

To be honest, November hasn’t worked out too badly though, as we were delayed in submitting our K1 application 🙃.

Are you going on the cruise too? I originally booked it just for myself and my dog, but found out it was only an extra £50 to add my fiancée too (because I was paying for a 2 person cabin already).

I'm glad it all worked out for you, at least it makes it a little less stressful, knowing that you have plenty of time between each stage. The great thing about the cruise is that toy have no bag or bag weight limit, makes it so much easier for you to take your stuff across! 😊

Unfortunately no, I have my first exam on 30th of April until 20th of May. However, he's being accompanied by my dad, so they're having a boys week on the cruise. 😂I'll be joining both my fiancée and my dog as a soon as I can!

I'm presuming that your fiancée is coming with you and your pup on the cruise?

Oh bless, that’s fab that your dad is taking him for you!

Yep, Herschell is flying over a couple of days before, so we can do the cruise and then the week of driving from NY to LA together. The cruise is totally aimed at the over 60 market though, so it’s going to be a bit bizarre I think 🤔!

Yeah, I’m pleased about the baggage allowance - I’ve already warned Herschell that there will be no floor space cause I’m filling the cabin with bags! 😆 Though I do have to then fit the bags in the car in NY so guess I can’t go too crazy 😜.

When do you think you’ll be moving over?

Sounds like you guys will have a road trip of a lifetime! Hopefully the weather on East Coast won't be terrible just yet - this year November was pretty mild in midwest and east coast up until January! I look forward to hearing about the road tiro you guys are going to have 😊

I'll let you know what their experience is like, but from the sounds of it, there is lots to do when not looking after the dog haha.

Hahaha, I've been trying to move my stuff across with every trip, so I'm hoping I don't have to dump too much on therm for the cruise 😂

Aiming for first week of June, but anytime in June would be great! So fingers crossed.

Yeah, we’re hoping it won’t be super-icy - we’ve planned to take the southern route so will hopefully avoid the worst!

I think there are 8 hours of visiting time to the kennels per day, so I definitely plan to be there for all of that, tiring the old bear out 😍. But we will definitely have some fun in the evenings, going to the OAP ballroom dancing sessions etc 😆.

Me too! For the last 12 months or so, I’ve basically left the full contents of my case there when visiting...so I hope I won’t have too much stuff...unfortunately, I’m kind of a hoarder 😫.

June would be great, you’d only be separate from your pup for a short while 😍. When’s your interview?

My fiancée is also on a strict puppy duty during the cruise 😂 but I'm glad that they're so accommodating with the times to visit - definitely need to get my dog tied for the night!

Ballroom dancing, fancy dinner and a professional photographer too, you'll almost have a pre-honeymoon🤣

I've just booked it today, it's on 17th of May, so hopefully everything works out!!

How's your visa progress so far? Are you still waiting for your Noa2?

I actually found out an hour or so ago that our NOA2 was approved yesterday! 🙌🏻🙌🏻

Aiming to do the medical in late July/early August - and the interview on 11th September ideally.

17th May should give you plenty of time - and because your dog will already be out there, you’ll easily be able to get a flight soon after receiving your visa 😍.

Re tiring out, there’s an ok sized off lead area, from what I can tell from pics...I think I’m also going to give Gunner valerian compound each day - it’s a herbal medicine that I gave him when he flew - it’s recommended for reducing stress of fireworks/travel in dogs - and he was very chilled for his flight (a little stoned if I’m honest 😆)...

Oh my god, I can’t wait for the family portrait with the pet photographer 😍😆😍😆

That's fantastic!! Congratulations to you guys!! The hardest part is now over, and you can begin to get the ball rolling 😊

Sounds like you have a pretty good time frame, hopefully smooth sailing from now on.

I'm hoping just for that!😍 I'll be missing her terribly,  but I know my fiancée will take good care of her and she really adores him. Plus we live on a lake and she a lab, so she'll most likely never leave the water 😂🤣

We've been trying to sort out everything for my dog across there, veterinarian etc. So we're almost all set, just needs a final visit with her vet here to get her rabies (she's been given the vaccine and there is proof in dog passport, but not an offfical letter) and health ceritifcate. We've also realised that in Michigan you need to register your dog with the county, and that also requires an additional certificate. Not sure if that's applicable for California, but might be worth a look if you haven't already.

Oooh I might have to look into that, my vet did suggest giving her something for the stress for the first few days. But, I presumed out only option was a very mild sedative. Now that you mentioned that, I'll definitely talk to him and find out our optionst! Thank you so much for that 😊

Are you guys planning that too? We want to have a little fmaily shoot post wedding with our pup too 🤣 I thought it would be sweet to have some pictures for the future

Ohhhh, you’re so lucky to live on a lake! My boy is obsessed with swimming, but it’ll only be an option at the weekend (have to drive to the beach).

Re meds, I’d recommend giving both valerian compound (https://www.dorwest.com/product/valerian-compound-for-dogs-and-cats/) and valerian and skullcap tablets (https://www.dorwest.com/product/scullcap-valerian-tablets-for-dogs-and-cats/) - I forgot about the tablets, but Gunner has both when flying and it really helped.

We’re having Gunner join us for the wedding and photos 😍. We’re dropping him off at the pet sitter’s early in the morning after a good walk - he’ll groom Gunner and will then bring him to the venue for the photos, but will take him back before the reception starts, as that’d be way too long a day for him.
