I (the Petitioner) am required to submit my tax return transcript for DS-260. I have a joint income but I do not want to include my husband's in the sponsorship? Is my husband REQUIRED to complete the 1-864A?

No, if your income alone qualifies to sponsor, your husband does not have to fill anything. You need to submit your W2 so they can find out exactly what portion is your income. My memory is foggy on if they need his W2 or not, but definitely the spouse doesn’t have to fill a I864A if you don’t need the whole household income.

When I did it for my mom, I did the 864EZ because I met the requirements, and then I gave them everything (we filed jointly too): tax transcripts, 1040 and W2s from both of us. That way there is no question whatsoever.

Did you report your own income on the 1-864 where it says agi (adjusted gross income) or both you and your mother's total agi?

Minor clarification: I sponsored my mom. I filed taxes jointly with my wife. I reported my own income only on the I-864. I submitted our tax transcript (which is only one because we filed jointly) and the 1040 (also there is only one because we file jointly) and both my W2 and my wife W2. You only need to submit the I864A for household member if you need the whole household income to qualify. Does it make sense?

Thank you I totally understand now. Although I might just report my W2's with the tax return and attach a note.
